carpoor 08-02-2014 03:14 PM

Engine and transmission back in the car. Still much to put back on, but the heavy lifting is done. Nearly lost a fingertip and have some gashes in my forearm... but I can live with that knowing that I got things done today.

carpoor 08-02-2014 07:15 PM

I'm going to dive in headfirst on Tuesday, my day off, and hopefully hear it run again. This time without any bad noises.

We packed the Chevelle to get ready to head home to Ga early in the morning.

SS Shaun 08-03-2014 09:00 PM

thank you tomorrow if not tuesday i will wet sand and buff

chevymaher 08-04-2014 05:44 AM

Very nice. I trailing you.

carpoor 08-04-2014 11:12 PM

Very doubtful I will get anything done today. Pulled something in my back yesterday, and got roped into helping someone fetch their frame from the powder coaters. Oh, I have to take my final exam before 1 pm...

I'm seriously ready to sell the trailer if this keeps up. I'm so frazzled that I can't seem to be left alone long enough to do my own stuff. I need a vacation with no cell phones or internet for about a week.

You want to help people and do right by them, but it seems like eventually you are made to feel like you can't say no. Rant off/

I know the feeling they make you feel guilty if you can't just drop everything and do it now.

carpoor 08-09-2014 01:15 PM

Got back to work on my car this morning... tightened a lot of bolts, installed the clutch Z bar, driveshaft, belts, core support. In between that I put four new upper control arm bushings in my father's 72' Lemans. I quit around 11:30, sore all over and it was hot! (I saw 88* in the shade a little before 10:30)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps95aae6ed.jpg

Tuesday... fuel pump, lead pipes, top off fluids, distributor cap, plug wires, and some wiring connections - it will run again.

Ms Grumpy 08-09-2014 09:12 PM

You need to clone yourself. lol

SS Shaun 08-09-2014 10:01 PM

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...ps53a3298b.jpg

took her out today and had some fun. took my daughter out to get her ice cream as promised :)

chevymaher 08-09-2014 10:12 PM

Nice shaun. I wish I could drive mine. I still sandin.

flash 08-10-2014 08:15 AM

Shaun ,its looking good.

carpoor 08-12-2014 10:43 AM

Just quit for the day, I'm already sore and tired. :( I installed the fuel pump and carb to pump line, distributor cap, plug wires, connected all the wiring... alternator, op sending unit, etc. Got all the vacuum lines hooked up, went over everything to make sure bolts were tight, filled the radiator. I just didn't get around to hooking up the lead pipes.

I did some unexpected things... pressure washed the front of the shop, and the front half of the LeMans frame. Also went over some wiring and connections on the 67' C10. I squeezed a lot in this morning, now it's time to go home and shower.

SS Shaun 08-12-2014 09:03 PM

i bolted on all the trim parts i have with the only part i can't bolt on that one trim that goes on the bottom of the trunk

flash 08-13-2014 08:43 PM

I put a hot battery in the El Camino and took it for a barh at the local car wash ,first time its seen the light of day in a while .Im driving it to work tomorrow so I can tinker on it at lunch.

flash 08-16-2014 08:40 AM

Boy my spelling sux ,I will try to do better .

carpoor 08-16-2014 12:10 PM

Well, lead pipes are on and everything is hooked up... but no oil. I had two quarts on hand, but needed three more. I checked my tracking #, the delivery date keeps changing. :o

I don't have a day off until next Saturday. Looks like I am out of luck for another week.

Ms Grumpy 08-16-2014 06:01 PM

Did the Berkley Cruisefest Car Parade last night. It is the biggest parade the night before the Woodward Dream Cruise. I heard there were almost 400 classic cars this year.

This morning got up and set up the canopy on Woodward at 6am. Did a couple of loops on Woodward then sat and watched the cars cruising on Woodward during the Woodward Dream Cruise. I needed to go home around 2pm so I packed up and went home. Then went back out and cruised on Woodward with one of my girlfriends for a couple of hours. I was not really surprised to see a lot of newer cars on the road and parked on the side too.

SS Shaun 08-17-2014 11:14 PM

painted my head light bezel so they can have the black on the inside like the way the 69 should. also fixed my driver side headlights to line up correctly. and when i was done with those i installed and wired my horn. Half way to being 100% legal

shadowgray396 08-17-2014 11:33 PM

Got the Chevelle out and drove it some tonight. Not able to go to many car shows this year. Won't be able to get it out until mid September now. That will be the first weekend I'm back home.

BillsCamino 08-21-2014 09:52 AM

SS Shaun 08-21-2014 12:36 PM

installed new LED lights in place of all the bulbs. the brake lights seemed so dim and the reverse lights as well. waiting on the turn signal lights to get here and install those. having to much fun with it :)

Ken Hayes 08-21-2014 01:24 PM

Shaun, did you install the load resisters? LED's draw less power to work, but without the resisters they will appear dim. Check out this link for more onfo. http://www.carid.com/1970-chevy-chev...-10063403.html

Of course. :D
Had two buyers...one on South Dakota, the other in Toledo, OH.
It goes to OH on Saturday.

And I've already filled the space in my shop as of tonight...a NICE '65 Malibu SS convertible...fresh frame off restoration...white with red bucket interior...283/PG, Pdisc, PS, power top & factory A/C.
Needs finish assembly but all the hard stuff is already done.

shadowgray396 08-21-2014 08:53 PM

I didn't buy it John...just helped put a Seller and Buyer (good friend) together.
Hopefully less drama than the last time I did something like that!! ;)

But Tim and I are going to complete it's assembly in my shop. Basically just needs the glass put back in, install the new interior, hang both bumpers, grill, & trim. Car came with lots of parts in boxes.
Going to change the front springs too...sets too high.

Sad...this was a gentleman's project that passed away last Nov and wasn't able to see thru to completion. All the work that was done is top notch!!

flash 08-22-2014 11:27 AM

So after that is complete what is next for you car wise ?

Ken Hayes 08-22-2014 12:13 PM

Shaun, I bought the same exact taillight ones as you and didn't know I had to use resistors with them. I installed them (without resistors) and they were dimmer than stock ones so I sent them back.

Thinking about buying a KIA Soul...and a gerbil costume. :D

I figure Grandsport can help me acquire one of those items...not quite sure WHICH one. ;)
