We've got a hurricane headed our way, supposed to make landfall around 8am Monday. Hopefully it turns north and misses us. I am really worried about the garage and the contents.

FlintTony 08-29-2019 04:31 AM

I hope that it does miss you Brian. The models are saying it may turn north before it gets to Florida. The river that borders our proprty is only 1/2" from flood stage now. If the hurricane does hit, it will be bad for our area.

mestorod70 08-30-2019 09:42 AM

I think im ready for our dorian visit.
50 gallons gas in cans....chevelle full...truck full..jeep full.
8000 wat generator full and tested....hooks up to the house panel.
A portable AC unit for the bedroom.
Chef boyardee is my new friend.
Hurricane shutters are ready to go up.
Good luck to all in the path of this bitch.

carpoor 08-31-2019 07:57 PM

Looks like the storm is making a turn away from us. But, who knows what it will do until it happens? I have done all of my preps and got my folks situated. Been working long days, tomorrow is supposed to be a short/slow day. Just let my dogs out, still 83 degrees and humid.

Hank70SS 09-01-2019 05:43 PM

Looks like you 'might' be spared the worst of it. we'll keep our fingers crossed for you. Latest track keeps it off shore but it is 500 miles across.

carpoor 10-17-2019 05:14 PM

Humid! I swear, we get a few decent mornings in the mid to upper 60s. Then the heat and humidity returns. We're halfway through October! Enough is enough. Supposed to rain this weekend and into next week... tropical storm in the gulf.

FlintTony 10-17-2019 05:24 PM

It will be better next weekend Brian. Well, I'm hoping anyways. I will be back down there the 26th. Hopefully.

carpoor 10-19-2019 12:46 PM

Friday morning was great... today, not so much. Higher temps returning next week.

I'm down here now. Weather guys are saying record high temps next week. I'll take that over freezing temps. My AC in the shop is broken again. Long story about that shit. I may make a new post on this fiasco.

chevymaher 10-26-2019 07:23 AM

rain and cold moving in here

carpoor 10-26-2019 07:46 PM

Wednesday was great, then this heat and humidity reared its ugly head again. Supposed to be 90 here tomorrow.

chevymaher 10-28-2019 05:15 AM

45 now and 70 supposed to be. It is going to rain again. We are spiraling helplessly into winter.

I was doing paint chip touch ups from the damn hood hinge again. Looking good you can see it anymore.

Think on the bright side, your winter is nothing like ours. Rain today and tomorrow and Thursday. Snow up north and we may see a few flakes this week. We cleaned up the leaves and cut the grass yesterday but 90% of the leaves are still in the trees. They'll probably come down when the snow flakes come down.

shadowgray396 11-04-2019 02:53 PM

No rain in the last couple of weeks, midday high around 60's and lows around 30°.

chevymaher 11-04-2019 03:36 PM

We are supposed to have snow in a week or so. flurries that melt and are gone in a hour stuff. That is the beginning tho.

I am waiting on my catalog. I waxed inside and out ran the sweeper in the car. I am ready to get this show on the road interior time. Quicker i get the catalog the quicker I do the order and get it on the way to me.

My buddy gave me a card to the engne machine shop guy I am going to use. He used him for his chevelle. That white 72 is back to life now.

Guy does nothing but build drag engines and being a hillbilly like me. There are tractor pulls. He builds 496's for them. He says his 496's see 8500 rpm within seconds of starting. He thinks it be just fine in my chevelle. He likes my deal I bring the block he does the rest. Here you go son I dare you try to break it.

I think i like him already. I gonna try to stay under 7 so it have a safety margin. It is a street car for Pete's sake I dont need that kind of cam.

Boat is put up for winter. It is chevelle time.

FlintTony 11-05-2019 04:45 AM

Sounds like you are going to have a wicked engine in that Chevelle! Are you going to try and "break" it?

carpoor 11-05-2019 10:02 PM

The humidity was awful today, got a quick rainstorm this afternoon.

BillsCamino 11-06-2019 10:54 AM

70s today...rain tomorrow...frost warning Friday AM.
Crazy !!!

I always had nasty chevelles. And camaros. Just not this nice looking. More the patina type before that was in style. It was because I was broke. Spent to much on the motor.

No I just want to be able to snap it sideways on the freeway and play with the hellcats. To me that is what a chevelle was about. I am not a numbers matching guy obviously. When you blow by that fast who can see them anyway,

Honestly I am older I gonna be reasonably sane. No Dukes of Hazzard Stuff going on. You know just take off a little whoops sideways every now and again. And got the balls to back its play unless you got a serious drag car.

Go to the Philmores(Ice cream stand literally) on cruise night. It is just the way this batch of hillbillies are. We all rode dirt bikes in the woods together when we were kids. Now we are all psychotic car nuts. It will be exactly like the rest of the cars there. Look decent and run decent. By our neck of the woods hillbilly standards.

Cops sit side by side in the lot next door and babysit us. Make sure no body gets to frisky LOL.

Go there meet your buddies. Sit in your chairs. Drink sodas and shoot the bull about old times.

Went by the other day. LOL there was a big block 87 impala or caprice. Factory color scheme and interior. Quiet pipes. Wheel tubs and steam roller tires.

This stuff been going on since I can remember. we used to ride out bikes up to watch the street races. It was called the Friches 500 back then. Then it went to the white castles. Then McDonalds on dream street. Hot Rod Magazine did a article about that and Waltons mountain. Now it is meeting at philmores.

It is just the heritage of the part of town I grew up in. It has been a while i miss home. I literally grew up in a house 100 yards from the place. I used to mop floors after they closed as a first job. It was Reeves then but still a Ice Cream stand.

FlintTony 11-07-2019 04:07 AM

I think that I want to come hang out with you guys. Sounds like a great time!

carpoor 11-08-2019 12:42 PM

Overcast, temps dropping. Got a friend coming in From Michigan tomorrow, picking up a 77 T/A.

I agree. I'd like to hang out there too.

carpoor 11-09-2019 03:40 PM

Beautiful day in the mid to low 70s. Finally feeling like fall.

chevymaher 11-11-2019 03:34 PM

26 high low 14 tomorrow. tonight only 20

shadowgray396 11-12-2019 02:45 PM

Raining today, around 50°.

Hank70SS 11-12-2019 05:20 PM

8" to 10" of snow yesterday, last night. Highs in the low 20's, average is low 50's. Low tonight of 5. This is is still the beginning of November isn't it? Maybe the trees will think about dropping their leaves now.

BillsCamino 11-12-2019 05:22 PM

Windy and 31 here right now...thankfully the rain ended this morning.
Was 66 degrees yesterday at this time.

carpoor 11-12-2019 09:14 PM

Woke up to 65 degrees this morning, had a high of 83 this afternoon. Tomorrow - supposed to be 52 around 6am, with a high of 68. "Cold front" ;)

I'll take that cold front!

BillsCamino 11-13-2019 01:21 PM

Yeah...was 24 when I got up this morning.
Had an appointment at 11am to get the tires rotated and balanced on my truck.

There was a long line at Discount Tire...people wanting tire pressure air checks.
I'd bet a lot of TPS triggered with these colder temps.

shadowgray396 11-18-2019 01:29 PM

rain and 50's for the highs. Looks like clear and colder the rest of the week. But no snow in the mountains for a opening for skiing on Thanksgiving weekend.

carpoor 12-02-2019 09:32 PM

A real cold front tonight... supposed to be around 37-38 degrees by 7am tomorrow.

Hank70SS 12-04-2019 06:04 PM

Light snow right now. Weather here sucks right now.

carpoor 12-07-2019 04:43 PM

Mid 70s today, back in the 80s the next three days. High chance of rain tomorrow.

Hank70SS 01-11-2020 09:20 AM

Well looks like most of the country is getting some pretty crappy weather. We now have lake front property. Back of yard is filling up, fortunately our house sits up high. Supposed to get 2-3" of rain on top of the frozen ground. Temps have dropped close to 20 degrees the last few hours. Then this rain coming down will be freezing rain. Glad we have a standby generator.

Ken Hayes 01-11-2020 02:01 PM

Taken about 15 gal of water out of the basement so far. Glad its in the back section.

chevymaher 01-11-2020 04:29 PM

It is like springtime here. I literally got the air cond on right now. It should be 0 to 20 below right now.

Raining like crazy 62 outside and it is dark. Park is flooding as we just went by

Hank70SS 01-12-2020 07:50 AM

We lucked out, a little snow and not really any freezing rain. Other areas around here weren't so lucky. Our lake in back soaked in overnight.

carpoor 02-02-2020 07:19 PM

Dipped into the mid 40s this morning, supposed to be in the mid 80s later this week.

chevymaher 02-03-2020 05:11 AM

It is crazy here. I had the A/C on last night. I got flower bulbs coming up in plastic tubs. My question is how do they know it is warm out. Same bulbs usually dont come up like that till late march in the basement
