Ausleys is great. Just running out if capital to invest in new parts. Send cash! :)

Are there any good salvage yards left in your neck of the woods? Wiper arms will mostly be the same on 68'-72' GM A-Body cars. (Chevelle, Monte Carlo, El Camino, GMC Sprint, Tempest, Lemans, GTO, Gran Prix Skylark, Cutlas, 442)
Most of that stuff is picked over down where I am. I have to venture out into "the sticks" to find any decent yards. |
Im right here on the coast. I have to get to the west side of I95 (120 miles)before theres any old salvage yards. Just going to have to call Ausleys Monday

[QUOTE=smokenjoep01;41296]Thanks. I am also in need of some unique parts.
#1- A clip to hold the lock cylinder in trunk lid. #2- The part the antenna wire pigtail plugs into. Its mount on the cowl. Bottom center of windshield. #3 - Some wiper arms in good shape 68-69 door handles are the same, 70 -72 door handles are different. 68-72 trunk lids have the same clip to hold the lock. Find an original clip the repo ones do not work very well. I may have one. I also should have a set of wiper arms laying around. |

Well windshield wiper arms are on the way. I found a guy local with a 68 and a 69 that being parted out. I got the trunk lock cyl. clip and door lock arms I was missing. Now all locks are in and working as well as the glass being in and rolling up and down! Working on getting the front fender extensions and headlamps installed now.

Im looking at using the five spoke wheels that came on the chevelle and z28. I found some local. No beauty rings or center caps. Anyone know we're to get some of those?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I think Summit sells the beauty rings ,most all the repro places sell the center caps but they aint cheap. Try NPD , I bought some for my Elky a few years ago but dont remember where . If I remember they are about $100 per set .
|
WOW 100! Nothings cheap these days. I kinda figured that. Thanks for the info

You might check with a local tire shop on the trim rings as they may know someone in your area that carries them. We have a place nearby that WildBill hooked me up with that sells all kinds of wheels and accessories and he is reasonable .

I think that flash should have a get together at his house. He and Joan do so much traveling to car shows I don't know if they could stay still long enough. I bet it would be a full house if he did something like that. |
Looking good!

Thanks yall for the responses. My buddy is in a jam and needed some cash. I offered him the money with the condition that all the body related parts be installed and car delivered to me by this Sunday. He shook my hand on it. We will see! :)

Well that was a waste of $500 bucks! Two weeks and still no car. Errrrrr. He has gotten most the things wraped up so that I can finish the rest of the car at my place. But getting the car moved is were he is dragging his feet. It's buried behind a pile of junk. My boy is a hoarder. Im going over today after lunch and shake some branchs.

Good luck. The car has really come a long way. You have to be excited to see the progress.

What a drama. Its loaded and ready for transport today. We will see what transpires???
Quick unrelated question. Im wanting to go with the five spoke wheels of 71-72. The ones that are the same as the early 80's Z28's I found a set and am having them powder coated black. But I don't know if they need to be gloss, flat or satin? Would they come gloss from the factory? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It looks good .

The factory wheels were kind of an egg shell. And were not black. None of the "restoration paints" are even close.
|
Whats a close representation? This car is solid now. But far from concourse. I at least wanted to put effort to try to get it close. Shes a driver, or will be :)
Thanks for taking the time to comment yall. Thank you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
The original color is kind of a green gray, and has a slight rough texture. I am currently trying to find someone who can mix me a really close batch of it. I have 11 wheels to paint.
This may help too, a guy on another site went to great lengths to duplicate the original texture and color. http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=400721 |
If you didn't want to go through all that, a rattle can of semi gloss black and nobody that didn't know all the production line numbers would be the wiser. I had a set on my '71 SS clone and nobody ever said anything to me other than, "Nice car".

I have a powder coater I use for my motorcycle business. He is going to shoot them a semi gloss black.

Seymour Rattle Can "Cast Blast" is really close
O'reilly Auto sells it. They have it in the warehouse and can get it in a day. 16-048 is the Part number. For a rattle can it's pretty close. |

Got the new a/c condenser and radiator installed. Not nearly as much as I wanted to get done. Spent most of the day trying to hunt down new rubber isolators to mount the condenser. Then I came across the new ones in the box! Then had to chase down the proper top radiator hose.
I really need a photo of how the trans cooling lines are routed around/ over the engine cradle??photos?? Would anybody by chance have there interior door panel off? And can take some pictures of the top edge inside? Looking for the placement of a couple of parts left over. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
There is a clip under one of the oil pan bolts. They tuck up against the pan rail and go over the crossmember. They bend towards the frame rail just before the fuel pump.
HTH |
Looks good. Which parts do you have left over on the door?. Might be able to tell you where they go. I had a picture let me see if I can find it for you.

#8 appears to be the outer window felts.
|
Here some info for you
http://chevelleforum.org/picture.php...pictureid=3288 http://chevelleforum.org/picture.php...pictureid=3285 Photo 7 is the same bracket as the upper part of photo 5, just rusted more. Photo 6 and 9 not sure, do not remember seeing them before. Your window pads or guides shown in photo 1 go on the front and rear part of the outer door. There should be holes for them to screw onto already in your doors. They go under the window felts so you have to install them first. http://chevelleforum.org/picture.php...pictureid=3293 http://chevelleforum.org/picture.php...pictureid=3294 If I need to I can put some of the hardware back on this door and take a few more pic's. |
:ntwrthy: Great reference photos Ray.
