Do you still have the 74' Stepside? :D

flash 01-20-2017 06:50 PM

Yes ,still have it .It is the most dependable truck I have .It can sit for 6 months and will still fire up every time .I move it around but have not really driven it in a while .

carpoor 01-21-2017 09:47 AM

My father had a 77' when I was a young boy. I miss that truck. Everything I find down here is roached out.

flash 01-21-2017 10:06 AM

I need to do a few things to the 74 but just have not found the motivation yet ,hopefully one day .

I finally bought a stronger driveshaft for my truck. Picked it up after work, and installed it. Hopefully that's it for awhile. My dog is about to have puppies, I won't have any money for car stuff soon.

flash 02-20-2017 07:19 PM

Drive shaft looks great ,what kind of dog you got ?

I have two, the parents are my male - he is a German Pinscher. My female is a Miniature Pinscher. Both are rust colored, similar looking dogs. He stays right around 30 lbs, she's a whole 12 lbs. I am guessing that the puppies, when full grown, will be about 16-20 lbs.

flash 02-21-2017 11:16 AM

They are cute .

carpoor 02-21-2017 03:07 PM

If you think you would want a puppy, let me know. I will bring you one in May.

carpoor 02-24-2017 06:35 PM

Had to fix my daily driver today. The wiper on the driver's side decided to stop working while driving home in the pouring rain. The plastic bushings in the wiper transmission linkage failed.

chevymaher 03-03-2017 06:22 AM

I had a brake squealing on the van. It had a anti-squeal pad got rust under it and come loose. I pulled it off and used liquid anti-squeal for the moment solved it. Well they are not bad but it been a few years and they getting thinner.
So I ordered the wagner thermoquiets front and back. And got a new hardware kit for the back. It never had one and that stuff just needs freshed up.

And this is something that don't happen every day. My brother is getting a couple boats package deal from a guy who upgraded to a cabin cruiser. He is getting a 270 Baja. Factory 454 supercharged. And since I helped him build his house I get a 170 horizon 18 foot bowrider. Motor is out of it and needs freshened up but it all works.

I say can't beat that with a stick. So sunday I got pick up the outdrive and the engine on a stand. While we tow his boat back I believe the deal is.

I gave the GAGT a tune up Tuesday... coil, wires, plugs, and air filter. It had developed a miss at idle in damp weather. And idled a hair rough in any weather. The original parts were toast, and the air box/filter were full of dirt and rocks. It definitely runs much smoother. Amazing that it averaged 25.5 MPG and got 27.5 a few times.

chevymaher 03-09-2017 12:37 PM

I got the motor and out drive here. Never tuned up since new. I need a ignition system basically and cleaning out ethanol.

chevymaher 03-10-2017 06:58 AM

Well news is the new to me boat I am restoring now. Is scheduled to come home next weekend. Waiting for the ground to dry and not be a mud pit where it is. Guy is gonna pull it out pressure wash it and check the wheel bearings. Once he does that transfer and pull it home.

It had a crank trigger short out and the hot wires insulation wore through. Positive to the base in the distributor fried the halls effect electronics and the coil. I was on the horn with Petronix yesterday and we got all that sorted out. Parts list for new parts.

Since the boat uses a generator and resistors. Today I gonna go look through my spare alternators and see what got to be done to mount it for a conversion. I got a nice 3 month old 100 amp one from my 90 astro parts van I cut the front end off of to put on mine when it was wrecked.

Now is the time to upgrade. I got the engine on the stand with the wiring. Boat isn't here and I don't got anything else to do.

I had a buddy come over for rust repair on a 08 4 runner. Just minor stuff but he dont want it getting out of control like the last one did before he met me. We sat in the chevelle and listened to the stereo and made the plan on his truck.

So the chev was my office yesterday LOL.

Day off, not really... worked on the LeMans. It starts better, the proper choke rod will do that. I think I have the lack of brakes narrowed down to a bad master cylinder. Also found that the distributor cap was loose. Lastly, removed the 3.07:1 geared 12 bolt rear and installed a 3.55:1 rear. It's getting closer, I just need the time to work on this stuff.

flash 03-10-2017 05:54 PM

I stopped by the sand blasters place today and picked up my 5 -6 lug Rally wheels for my new to me California bought 72 Chevy 4x4 .Now I need to get them painted and take them to the tire shop .

carpoor 03-10-2017 06:52 PM

Actually, K10 in this case.

Got my truck on the dyno today, finally tuned and dialed in. It runs excellent. The final numbers were 349 RWHP and 384 RWTQ. Safe tune, 87 octane. Could have run 93 and chased more power, but it's $0.50 more per gallon - and it's no race truck.

Those are some pretty impressive numbers!

carpoor 03-15-2017 12:09 PM

Thanks Tony. The jump in torque is noticeable everywhere. It will destroy a set of tires at will. The true test will be when I run across a new RAM R/T on the street. I have seen a few run mid 13s right off the lot.

Nothing else in a new truck will be competition. That was partially my goal, to be able to outrun any new truck available, without having an ill mannered piece of crap. And without spending a wheelbarrow load full of money.

chevymaher 03-27-2017 06:20 AM

I have been playing with my new toy. It sat for years and looked horrible. I have been sitting out in the mud sanding and buffing. Pressure washed the covers and cleaned the interior.

It is another jigsaw puzzle to assemble. I seem to thrive on that kind of stuff. It is actually in really good shape tho. Just sitting un used was its biggest problem.

I got one side done on the color. Which is the hardest part. Color sanding the gel coat getting the oxidation off of it to buff. White parts are easy just 3000 them smooth get the chalky off and buff.

Soon as the sun comes up i be out there all day doing it again. I got the other side about ready. I got the area in back which is a pain because it is under the swim platform.

I installed a "Rhino" grille guard on the 2011 Express all-wheel drive van yesterday. Supposed to be a simple bolt on job. Not so. Many hours of making things fit. I put it on hoping the next deer that I hit won't cause 7 grand of damage.

Saw one of those Ram R/Ts this morning, still haven't run across one on the street yet.

Yesterday, merged onto the interstate like usual, steering gets hard and temperature gauge begins to climb. Damnit... it spit the belts off. From what I can see, the AC belt came off and popped the main belt off. I was able to muscle it back in while on the side of the road. Didn't have any tools with me...

I drove the 72 Chevy truck to Cokers Tire Cruise In yesterday and it developed a pretty bad skip going up .I had hoped to work on it today but split wood instead ,trying to get the wood out of my mowing path.

This past Tuesday I had to go put a water pump on my mother's Tahoe. I had parked my little car because the brakes were making noise. I finally did the fronts... calipers, rotors, pads.

I found where the noise was coming from...

flash 04-13-2017 03:54 PM

Wow ,I see why it was making noise ,nothing left .

fleming23 04-18-2017 02:57 PM

I hadn't realized that you took the automatic out. What is going in place of the LS3 and TKO? LS9/T56 swap?

Close :)
LT4/T56 Magnum

carpoor 04-19-2017 02:53 PM

Very nice. Your tires will hate you.

carpoor 05-12-2017 05:26 PM

Finally changed the thermostat in my daily driver. What a miserable job, was reminded why I hate FWD vehicles. I have been putting it off since last November.

mestorod70 09-06-2017 10:44 AM

Changing the rear wheel bearing on 02 jeep cherokee.
Its my GTFOD vehicle.

flash 09-06-2017 11:29 AM

Im using my 72 Chevy 4x4 to tow in parts trucks to help other trucks live .

carpoor 01-09-2018 02:11 PM

Had to put a battery in my truck. Replaced a bunch of rear suspension components in the GAGT. That car is getting new tires and a four wheel alignment Friday. Then, it's sold. I work much closer to home now, I can afford to daily drive my truck.
