I walked by it this afternoon. I fixed the issue with brakes about 6-8 weeks ago. That was a nice victory. I'm trying to spend one day a week tinkering with it. I've decided to sell it once finished. It's too nice, I'll be afraid of something happening to it. It's already gotten a few scratches just sitting in the garage. Mind you, I have layers of thick blankets on it and it still happened. Going to have the paint fixed one final time, then it goes to a friend's dealership on consignment.

Put a new spoiler on it after Judy totaled my spoiler by Randy one.

Nice Ken, I put a bunch of freeway miles on today, A/C still works that tickled me to death. Boy and I went to the scenic overlook for some pictures. But it was so bright you couldn't get a good one, Oil leak is very minimal. Nothing went wrong. We had a great morning. It is alive now at least worth the years of waiting,

I bought better fans. Car wasnt liking being on the freeway a hour then going into traffic with the air on.
And i ordered parts for a vacuum pump for the brakes. They got hard sitting in traffic. Worked fine but they could be better. |
LOL new fans are not louder. It does sound like a remote control plane now. The 10 foot long jobs. Turn these fans on and there is sheet flying under the hood and car. The condensor is unsealed and 2 1/2 inches from the radiator. If you drop a sheet of paper in front of it. Sticks right to it.
|
The caddy vaccum pump is a winner 8 sec it is done. That was in a test with a 15 foot long line on it. I am foolin with that now.
|
Well I been driving this thing alot working out the bugs. I about got the oil leaks whooped now. Distributor was most of it running down the back looked like other things leaking.
It gets real hot of course. I am told just put some miles on the old girl she will simmer down. I got a motorcycle now a 650 Nighthawk. So I took the chevelle out then rode the bike. Here is the old girl sitting between rides. She is a monster. https://i.postimg.cc/fy0jyTXc/20220802-082950.jpg |
Temps are in the 70's I put a water wetter from royal purple in it. It is hanging in there now not heat creeping. I got oil leaks down to a low roar.
I been driving it putting some miles on it. Gets a whopping 9 mpg now. |
Well I got a Weiand water pump that seemed to fix the heat creep sitting still. Almost 500 miles on it now and time to change the read end grease.
|
Changed the rear end oil, checked tranny fluid level, checked engine oil level, brake fluid level, cleaned rims and dressed tires, tightened up the console, adjusted the e brake cable, put a bead of weld on the tailpipe-to-mufflers connection. Just thikering…
|
LOL 540 miles I did the same thing today. Changed the rear end oil. It looked good. So it is ready for the duration.
I did the engine oil again as well. Then cleaned her. She may sit this week. It supposed to rain. |
We up to 830 miles it is starting to cool off. Had a intake leak changed the gaskets.
Rode the bike to the Jim's the engine builder. He wants me to bring it to his house just to look at it. I go by his house 3 days a week. I will stop let him hear it. |
I added a vacuum canister that was the deal there.
|
Happy Thanksgiving to those who still come here,
|
LOL wife rode in it today finally. We went and did some shopping. When we got there she said this was my ride. Now if all our cars are broke it is a last resort. She calls it the Angry Car.
|
The headers came car is apart. I am modifying the a/c on the firewall so the valve cover goes on and off without pulling the engine. It is a winter wonderland so no driving.
It was the valve cover gasket leaking like a pig on the passenger side. Well back down and play with my toy. 1900 miles so far. got a set of hotter plugs coming. |
Adjusted the carb And it likes these headers alot better than the drags a lot hooker ones. Dont drag at all anymore and don't dare nail it your going sideways.
I got the oil leaks down to Lake Meads flow now. I rebuilt the power steering it sprung a leak. |
Forum is a lonely place LOL.
|
Yep, you got that right. I check in once in a great while. Deadsville here. Surprised the site is even still here.

I still take a look every few weeks.
Glad to see you got your car on the road |
Down to regular car problems. LOL. I took it to my buddy the engine builder. We took a cruise, He was grinning like a cheshire cat. Said it run pretty good for a 307.
On the way home guy caught up to me and warned me i didn't have brake lights. I fooled with that today. It was the emergency flasher relay. and apparently a loose connection. I remove my foot from my mouth it is fixed for the time being anyway, So ready to cruise once again when this rain stops |
Put a overflow/recovery bottle in. That was nice having a full radiator when it cooled off.
|
I put a different clutch arm in. The one it had was not matching the rest of the linkage. I looked it up. Trucks and big impalas. 11 inch heavy duty. 1.5 inch difference in the pivot points.
So I am about to get her out and test. I replaced the motor in the vac pump it held up. It was flooding last time I adjusted the floats. New rear main seal. It seems to not be the Juan Valdez anymore. New rad cap. Put in a catch can. PCV system was increased to 3/4 inch inside diameter. |
Well for anyone who is passing through. It ate the muncie. LOL. So I am waiting on Midwest muncie to build me one now. Input gear turned blue. Ground up a input to mainshaft bearing and deposited it in the tailshaft .
|
Today I did the beak in oil change on the auto gear muncie clone. It is a good transmission. 2.99 1st and 2.04 2nd 1.34 3rd. It is nice first gear being second now.
It is a rock crusher style and has that whine. |
I put a new set of coil springs in it. I had coil over shocks and spacers in the drivers side coil spring. And it still bottomed out on big bumps doing 55.
Ole 307 spring was wore out. I used the 5390 moog for the front. Old coil diameter was .6 new ones measured .68 even tho they say they are .656. they did have thick paint on them. Rears were moog also but same as small blocks. It raised both ends about a inch and a half. Front is alot stiffer now tho It isnt pushing down easily. I dont think the wheels gonna hit the wheel wells anymore. And header clearance doubled. |
Took her out and drove her today. Went to where I got the motor built. The second hand man is still there finshing what they had out to be done. It is a big family there. Like I am In it if mine broke it be fixed.
But no new stuff. I stood and talked to a guy in there a hour. We knew all the same people and times back to high school. Troy gonna talk to Jim's daughter in law when she comes. I gonna get a picture of Jim with a car for my garage. Me and Jim were really close and his Daughter in law knows we were. Anyway I was visiting the car guys and had mine there. |
