Right now its 3* with wind chill at -22*. Was out for a little bit clearing the snow from the end of the driveway thanks to the city plow. I tried shoveling it, but with my COPD I was getting out of breath really fast. Ended up using the 2 stage snow blower to get the job done. My stash had icicles hangin from it when I came inside and I wasnt out there all that long.

Wind is blowing about 35 mph so the wind chill is the minus column. I worked until noon outside and called it quits. Came home the back door way before everyone else panicked. We have had 2 twenty plus car pile ups on the main freeways already. I just put new traction tires on the company truck about 3 weeks ago, glad I did. We now have 3 inches at the house with more on the way through Saturday.

Ray, we have walls made of landscape/retaining blocks similar to yours. Some places are around 3' tall and you can't even see them anymore. Then snow just tapers up and over the top.

Ken, they plowed us again this morning too. Cleaned ours and a couple of neighbors out, my fingers were numb when I came in. That was on the tractor, not shoveling. I thought the gloves I have were good ones, maybe not.

Started to snow around 1pm today and are expecting another 3 to 5 inches. I have some snow drifts in the back yard a couple of feet deep from the winds. Looks by Monday we are back in the 50's

Ken Hayes 02-07-2014 07:08 PM

50's for us is like a month or more away.

Keep changing the forecast and up to 10 inches of snow tonight into tomorrow, changing to freezing rain sometime sunday or monday before we warm up.

Hank70SS 02-08-2014 06:59 AM

Stay warm and safe Ray. On the plus side I guess you guys need the rain/snow, at least northern CA does.

shadowgray396 02-08-2014 08:45 AM

Thanks Hank, storm number 3 is due this afternoon. Will start as snow( 4 to 8") then the east winds are dying down and the upper air is warm so rain. We are expecting up to 1/2 inch of freezing rain, so power lines and trees will be coming down before all this is done. Still showing around 50 late Monday, so flooding might be an issue with some area's having 18 inches of snow. The mountains did get snow also and more is on the way up ther next week.

Woke up to 49* and light rain this morning. It's barely 55* now - still raining, projected high of 60*... and lots more rain, all day. Not the mid 70s they had predicted earlier this week. :grumpy:

Trying to get motivated to do something on my car, but no garage space to work on it = me not very motivated. Everything left to do requires me to lay under it, or be under the hood. I'll pass and wait for a better day. I have 12 vacation days to use this year.

I know it isn't the snow and ice everyone else is experiencing, but it still isn't fun to work or drive in.

This sucks when the biggest thing we have to talk about is the weather. Also sucks when the weather in Alaska has been better than here.

Amen, not much going on. Freezing rain is here now. The city around here told everyone to stay off the road and take mass transit or our light rail system. The light rail shut down last night due to ice for the first time every and left people stranded. Warming is on the way late Sunday.
