So,what's the big plans for the weekend?

Nothing special for me,I may as well work Saturday and Monday. The wife and daughter got a dog show over the weekend.Sometimes I'd rather watch bamboo shoots grow under my fingernails than go to a dog show.I'll hit a couple parties Saturday afternoon and evening, and be smacked up for the fireworks.:p( all within walking distance of course:))

My Son and his wife & my 3 grandson's are coming to town. For the 4th. The middle grandson is unreal. He has a book of Muscle cars. His other grandpa gave him. You can flip thru the book & stop on any page. He'll tell you the name of the car. And who makes it. At 3 yrs old. His other grandpa is some what of a car nut. So this helps out a bit. He just loves Muscle cars. So were going to a cruise here in town saturday. The other two boys could care less! :) So they stay home with grandma :)

I am going to try my best to stay home all weekend and do some work around the house and maybe even try to clean up the shop some. I might have to take a few hours and take the cars for a cruise though since they didnt get out last weekend. Other than all that no plans.

Derek69SS 06-30-2010 01:56 PM

3rd:
Car & Bike "memorial cruise" in honor of my wife's cousin who died on his bike 2 years ago on the 3rd, then drink some beer afterward with his brothers and cousins.

4th:
tradition of reading the Declaration of Independence while I drink my coffee and work up the motivation to get off the couch.
take my kids to a parade
shoot my guns in celebration of my freedom to do so at the "range" behind the in-laws
cook-out at the in-laws
blow stuff up

5th: relax

grumpy 06-30-2010 02:23 PM

My plans involve doing as little as possible.

Derek, I hope this does not include the motor in your Chevelle, that is just wrong.

Well, I won't be trying NOT to blow it up... I'm sure I'll bounce it off the rev-limiter more than once over the weekend. :D

RICKS70SS 06-30-2010 03:37 PM

If you do Derek: Have it towed to Car craft! We want you there. Been a while since I've seen you. :)

BillsCamino 06-30-2010 05:36 PM

No work Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday!! :ntwrthy:

However on Saturday...pull the big block out of my '67. I sold it.

Hank70SS 06-30-2010 06:03 PM

Nothing much. Feed the dog tranquilizers because of all the fireworks. Never bothered her until a couple of years ago, she'll be 10 this summer. Now fireworks or thunder and she goes nuts, panting, trembling and trying to hide from it. She's a small black lab, first time she saw a rifle, actually was just a pellet gun, she ran over and sat down next to me. Like, oh boy we're going hunting and she sat there patiently waiting.

Anyway my son is going away this weekend and we don't want to put her in kennel with all the fireworks going off. If the weather holds up we'll go up to my uncle's place in Oscoda next week. Probably wash and wax the Chevelle and go to Baker's on Sunday.

shadowgray396 06-30-2010 07:28 PM

Plan to work on the Beach House putting in a couple of windows in the garage and mow the lawn. Probably will spend half of it down there and the other half working on the house here and some on the car.

I hate hearing you talk about the 'beach house'. We had a cottage that we sold about 7 years ago. It was move or lose my job, then they changed their minds. I really miss the place, made some great friends up there and had a lot fun. Now when a holiday weekend comes along we're lost, don't know what to do because before it was always head up north.

grandsport 06-30-2010 08:23 PM

I love that term beach house, really! My mother in law who just passed would really get in to using that term at her bridge club meetings at the Country Club. Not a mean spirited post.:)

Hank70SS 06-30-2010 09:03 PM

Beach house does have a nice ring to it, sounds so much better than cottage. Ours wasn't really a cottage, 26' x 40' double wide. 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths. 6" insulated walls, we used it year around, never shut it down for the winter.

grandsport 06-30-2010 09:09 PM

I guess it is better than the term out house, which I have read about in school.

Probably smells better too.

Today is a big day for my family. My daughter is having grandson #2 this afternoon. Tomorrow I am off and will be trying to finish off my brother's Impala and get the exhaust put on. Saturday, off to Mom's, work around her yard, get with my brothers who supposedly wanted to cook out there and visit. Late Saturday, I begin cooking a coulple of shoulders on the grill for my friend's party on Sunday, which I will attend. Monday I will be sitting on my backside resting.

Oh, and by the way, I will have to fit all the cooking and visiting around the new grandson, gotta keep the priorities in line.

Wish all of you a really great holiday and be SAFE!!

Durand

Grumpy will be doing as little as possible while I will be making a birthday cake for my daughter's birthday, Lacie turns 22 on 7/2 and Jennifer turns 26 on 7/12. The BBQ will be going, family will be heading to our house, and we will end up having a house full for alot of good food and fun.

When it gets dark we will be doing some "family friendly" fireworks, while watching the neighbors light off the "illegal" stuff and getting busted by the police.

Wow Seeb, sounds like you have it dialed in for a great time! I would love to still do that but I dunno if I would survive it anymore!!!

Like Ray said, we are going to our beach house (Birch Bay, WA just south of the Canadian border) with family and friends. It looks like the weather will be nice now so I am thinking of taking the Chevelle and cruz Birch Bay Drive!

Happy 4th everyone!

Greg

shadowgray396 07-03-2010 10:50 PM

My 4th weekend

Mornings have been starting around 5:30am and finally finished the garage after 2 years of working on it part time. Got all the windows finished, blinds hung, painted, and work bench done. Been painting the back of the garage and the side. I will have a place to put the Chevelle in when and if I finally get to drive it down. Started on the front of the house with a new windows going in and a new garage door and front door and then new siding like the back. Bottom line owning a beach house requires a lot of maintenance especially when it is 70 years old. Glad I got a 4 day weekend.

Ray

Here we go again with the freakin' beach house!Waving
