Gun Safes

I am in the market for a gun safe and need opinions on fire rating or any other info that I can find. I have looked at Dicks Sporting Goods at their largest one at around $600 but not sure what fire rating I should go with.I plan to store my important papers ,photo albums and such more so than guns. Any help would be much appreciated.:ntwrthy:

I'll be in the market for one real soon too... my gun cabinet is horribly insufficient, but I plan on moving soon, so I keep putting off getting a big/heavy one. I will be watching this topic. :)

There is also a post on TC with lots of info ,Im still researching before I buy.

flash 08-13-2010 08:26 AM

More info on the other thread.

grandsport 08-13-2010 09:25 AM

Thread is used for clothing.

flash 08-13-2010 11:06 AM

Wrong thread. What color thread are you using?

grandsport 08-13-2010 11:18 AM

Using white at the moment.

Sure you are going to store other things in there.

Just curious, is this why we never really got to see inside the truck. You were hiding your weapons. weren't you..

flash 08-13-2010 09:10 PM

No weapons in my trunk ,just spare parts ,tools ,cleaning supplies and spare tire. I dont pack weapons or someone would get shot very easily by stupid stunts they pull in traffic.

Ms Grumpy 08-13-2010 09:20 PM

I knew you were too good to be true.

grandsport 08-13-2010 09:25 PM

I also did not think you were a gun owner.

grumpy 08-13-2010 09:43 PM

I am partial to the browning safes http://www.browning.com/products/cat...ries-gun-safes

flash 08-14-2010 09:57 PM

I dont own a hand gun ,only hunting guns .I have a 22 riffle that I cant hit the broad side of a barn with, a 12 gauge pump shotgun and my dads old 410 for shooting squirrels. I dont really like guns ,these I got from my brother many years ago as he was going to pawn them. The guns will probably not go in the safe ,probably just the ammo. I personally think too many guns are on the street already ,I dont need more.

flash 08-14-2010 10:00 PM

I forgot to mention I dont hunt either ,other that shooting squirrels to keep them away from my house and groundhogs around my shop. Groundhogs can destroy open property like no animal Ive ever seen and are quite mean when cornered inside a shop building .

grumpy 08-15-2010 10:47 AM

I was an avid air rifle guy. My RWS 45 has a Beeman Blue ribbon scope on it.

flash 08-18-2010 11:41 AM

If my BIL doesnt do something to keep his cows inside the pasture I may be taking out the 12 gage pump shotgun and having fresh beef on the barby .One of his cows just destroyed one of my Leyland Cyprus trees next to my shop ,boy is Joan pissed .I have been babying them for 2 years now and hate to lose any of them .

Well, if you do end up killing someone, you should have the freezer space for them. lol

 :D Now that's funny!

flash 08-26-2010 09:18 AM

Hopefully no one will die while unloading the safe ,but first I have to unload the other junk off my trailer. Just not enough hours in the day to do all that needs done.

Ms Grumpy 08-26-2010 06:51 PM

Never is flash, never is.

flash 08-28-2010 09:38 PM

Got the new freezer and gun safe today . Unloading those bad boys by myself was a pain in the back. Got them both in the basement and finally figured out how to open the thing. I found out just how much fun it is to move 600 pounds of steel without hurting myself. Very creative at the least. Now I need to get that co-worker of mine that likes to shoot moving objects to come kill me some deer to fill up that freezer.

Ms Grumpy 08-28-2010 09:40 PM

awe...no bodies in it ? I was hoping for some excitement tonight.

flash 08-29-2010 07:17 PM

You will have to talk to Grumpy for some excitement.

Ms Grumpy 08-29-2010 07:41 PM

You have a dirty mind. And to think I used to wonder why your name was "flash".

flash 08-30-2010 11:06 AM

Flash can find his mind in the gutter sometimes.

grandsport 08-30-2010 11:29 AM

Sometimes I wish I had me a gun.

flash 08-30-2010 09:03 PM

Grandsport would be dangerous with a gun. So would I.

grandsport 08-30-2010 09:05 PM

I might sell more cars!
