My Woodward Dream Cruise partner. My son Jacob got up at 5am that morning to go out to Woodward and get our spot and put up the canopy. Jacob stayed there all day and into the night and is the biggest car lover of all my kids left at home. He wants to go to every cruise whether we are in the Jeep or the Chevelle.

One of our favorite things to do is to go to Greenfield Village/Henry Ford Museum with the kids during the summer. It is acres and acres of Historical Homes with streets that only allow Model T's, Model A's, a 1929 Packard Bus and Horse drawn carriages. You can be chauffered around the Village in the Model T's and Model A's, or stand at the bus stop and wait to take the Packard Bus. It also has Steam Engines Trains from the mid to late 1800's that run around the perimeter of Greenfield Village. Everything in the Village is time period correct. The oldest building is from the 1600's. The most popular building is Menlo Park, it is the workshop of Thomas Edison. You can watch them blow glass, or you can make a candlestick or you can make a candle. These are only a few of the things that we do.
The last few pictures show the steam engine cleaning called "scalling". They would pour a chemical into the engine and it would build up pressure and when they released the steam it would blow the lime scale off the inside of the engine. |
Greenfield Village is very cool... they have a couple of "1914" Model T's that Ford built in 2003 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of FoMoCo. They were going to build 100 of them, but the costs got too high, and they only built 6. They built all new tooling to stamp out all new parts, cast new engines, etc... Kind of silly when you can still find Model T engines for under $100, and frames/axles for the price of scrap iron.

My neighbor has 2 model A's in his garage. One of them is beautiful condition. The other is a work in progress. He is now retired from Ford. Hell I was probably a teenage when he retired lol

My daughter Leah, what a ham. She always puts a smile on your face.
|
In the picture on the far right, Leah was saying take the picture all ready so I can go catch some bugs !
|
Yes, Leah is our bug lady. When I showed her this pic she was all excited. I asked her what it was, she said "it is a catapillar, but I am not sure which kind". She must have studied the pic for 2 minutes. Bug lady !!!

Don't you HATE that? :D Nice jeep. I used to run a '75 CJ5 with a 304/3 sp. in high school. In fact, I think it is still buried to the rear view in that sinkhole back off old fayette road. ;):p |
