Rain, rain and more Rain

Got so rained out this weekend with almost 4 inches of rain Saturday and Saturaday night. Had to tarp the house up just to keep the rain from coming in on the wall that I have torn off to install the new laundry room. Kept me up most of the night Saturaday night with so much rain and 50 mph winds. Hope your weekend was much dryer. Did manage to frame a window in the new bathroom area, but did not cut the hole to the outside yet, Just stuck in the frame on the inside of the house to keep it safe for now.

It was nice to see some rain for a change ,could do without the lightning and high winds though.

Rained for the past 2 days, with 2 more to go. I really don't like rain, I don't get to drive the car. It dosen't have inner fenders so you can imagine why I won't drive it.

Rain, strong winds and tornado warnings yesterday. Nothing serious happened here. Supposed to be windy again today, gusts up to 60mph but no rain. Maybe it'll blow all the leaves to my neighbor's yard.

It's going to take a week just to pick up the branches, that's just the ones I'm not willing to grind up with the mower. We have 4 garbage cans we use just to put branches in when they blow down, no trash. Eventually we haul them out back and burn the stuff. 4 cans won't come close to holding the branches out there, then we have to pick up the leaves too.

I like the colors in the fall but after the colors go the clean-up comes, hate that part.

What kind of trees are you dealing with Hank? Seems like alot of branches.....more than usual anyway.

grandsport 10-27-2010 06:49 PM

Sitting here on the front porch in shorts, enjoying a starlit evening.

Its been raining off and on since monday morning and for a change Im loving it .Its been very dry and dusty with a high chance of forest fires so we really need the rain. Some damaging storms nearby but no serious injurys reported so far.

grandsport 10-27-2010 08:54 PM

Forest fires scare me.I used to see them from the front porch.

A little bit of everything. 4 spruce, 1 white pine, 4 oak, 1 cedar, 1 box elder, 1 walnut and couple more of unknown variety. None of those are a problem.

Then we have 4 silver maples, 9 cherry (choke cherry I think) and a huge chinese elm. Those are all junk trees, branches are always falling from them. Just about everything is at least 30' with a few well over 40'.

The chinese elm and one silver maple are the ones that make the most mess and really scare me. The chines elm is close to 50' and the maple over 40'. The elm could wipe out my motorhome, any cars in the drive and probably the corner of my house if it came down. The maple would take out my 12x20 shed, the enclosed deck on the back of the house and anything parked in the driveway. I really should contact a tree service and see about having those two cut down.
