Gotta sell my 71 Chevelle SS 454

Hello, I actually just signed up on this forumn, looking for some tips and whatnot to help restore my Chevelle.

Well, I just found out that my gf is pregnant and Im going to be needing money to help pay for everything. So Im forced to sell the Chevelle before I could even begin to work on it.

Its a 1971 Chevelle SS (not sure if it is a true SS or clone)
The engine is a 454, it has 0 miles on it. The guy i bought it from had it fully redone
The body is in excellent shape
The paint is also in immaculate shape
The engine runs perfect
Just needs the entire interior re-done. (about $1000-$1500 worth of work)

I am looking to get $8500 obo
The car is located in Jacksonville FL. i will have photos soon

Default Did I get a good deal?
After doing 6 months of research, i finally purchased a Chevelle. Personally, I think I got a good deal.. let me know what you think..

I just bought a 1971 Chevelle SS. Im pretty sure its a clone but the guy said its an orginal SS. It has a 454 in it. The engine is mint, the guy said it has 0 miles on it and has never been run.

The exterior is pretty close to immaculate. The paint is 8/10 shape. Its red with 2 black racing stripes. All the metal work under looks good. Theres no holes or rust.

The interior is another story. It has all the original interior parts but they are all junked up. It needs a complete interior restoration. Im thinking about $1500-$2000 in the interior from my research. Tires are new, rims are stock in great shape. All the lights work.

I paid $5500 + $80 for shipping
So, are you looking to make a quick 3k or what? Congrats on the coming kid if you are actually expecting though. Take 5700?

He's allowed to try.His only mistake was he told everyone what he paid for it.

Me thinks he might be changing his screen name with a baby on the way.:p

Yeah, no luck on the images for me either.

Good luck selling it, sorry for the untimely course of events that have left you selling the muscle car. You know, some people would love to be in your shoes though, with an opportunity to bring a life into this world. That might be a blessing bigger than anything you've ever imagined.

haha yes, changing to BIGworries

and ya im trying to make a little extra because i had a classic car expert price it and he said it was worth $13k in the condition its in. And he also confirmed that it is a true SS.

I listed it for 8500 of CL and had about 10000 phone calls. Had a 10k offer and 9600 offer and 9000 offer. So..ya i mean i have been honest and said what i got it for, but i need money because i am 23 years old, in college at UF and have a kid on the way.

I paid $5500, the only thing I really had to do to the car was take apart the interior and clean it all out.

Install a new starter
& install a larger more powerful battery to crank it

So yea, I got about 6k into it. But still an amazing deal.

Just becauce someone says it a true SS does not confirm it. You need paper work. Everything can be change to make it look like a SS, in fact there are more SS cars on the road today then actually built. You do have a good looking car. If you have had a offer of $9600 I would think it would be gone by now. Good luck on the sale of your car and congrats.

I wouldve sold it for 96 but i have 2 guys coming today, 1 offered 10k and the other said he would match or go higher.

I wasnt looking for a bid war but damn if i dont need the money

Highway Star 10-28-2010 01:53 PM

You might be able to finance all the baby stuff, and still have $ to buy another project at this rate man.

dbradley 10-28-2010 09:49 PM

Unless you have a build sheet or POP for that car, I'd be careful about selling it as a SS, no matter who 'looked' at it. Doing so could come back on you if the new owner finds out its not.

shadowgray396 11-08-2010 11:03 PM

So di you ever sell your car?
