Where's Jeff?

Don't remember seeing a post from him in awhile, last activity was 10/16. Hope all is well and he's just busy. Did I miss something, like he's away on vacation or something?

grumpy 11-01-2010 06:29 PM

I hope all is well with him and he finds his way back soon.

Dave

Sorry guys, yes, extremely busy as of lately.

First of all, my wife and I decided to seperate for awhile. Most likely will turn into a divorce, but we'll see. This happened at the end of Sept, and I've kept it pretty quiet so far. On the one hand it kind of sucks, but on the other hand our lives have improved greatly. We have found that seperate we are much better friends than we are together, which makes for much better parents for my girls. We still do lots of stuff together with my daughters, actually probably even more than we did.

Life has been pretty hectic with that change for sure.

With this, I guess it has basically allowed me to concentrate much more on my business, without the distraction of an unhappy marriage, and business is absolutely booming lately. I've been working normally 12 hour days, to keep up, and took today off to catch up on paperwork finally. I've been working typically 5 am to 5 pm and then go see my girls and tuck them into bed at 8pm, then get home, eat quick, workout, and go to bed, and repeat the cycle.

I didnt say anything to anyone because I dont want and am not looking for sympathy or "Im sorry to hear thats", and I dont need to be lectured either about this. It was pretty much a joint agreement by us, and again, it has made us both happier people. After 11 years, we both have changed a lot, and really probably are not the best match for each other anymore. I know for me personally, after seeing my parents pass away at a reletively young age (59 and 60), what I want and need in a spouse now, is completely diffrent than I wanted or needed 11 years ago. I live a very healthy, very active lifestyle, running and cycling and weight lifting daily, and my wife just isnt in to it. Shes more of a downer type of person, and thats fine for her, but our lifestyles just dont match well anymore. We both understand it very well.

Thanks for your concerns, I appreciate knowing you guys are thinking about me. I've had some rough days, but have many, many more really good days now. Life is on a much more positive course.

I'll try to get more time to hang out with you guys again, with winter coming I suspect work will slow down to a more managable level. Heck, I havent driven my chevelle in over 2 months now with how busy I've been, and of course, driving season is about to end. Although the forecast is calling for almost 60 degrees early next week, might make it a short work day and take one last good cruise.

It is. Thank you for remembering me :)

I actually bought a few more companies over the winter. Both were competitors of mine, fell into financial troubles and I grabbed them up. While it was a great move economically, it has taken every single free minute of my life. I went from being a single person company to having multiple employees. I now have 8 vehicles on the road everyday, and have the ARRA accounts for 5 different counties around me. Getting myself into the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act shuffle has been huge. While it is a paperwork nightmare, it is a financial God send.

With the expansion came the need for a shop, so I now have a really nice 8000 square foot shop with nice office space. I even have just enough room left over to keep my chevelle in there :D. It is so easy to work on it in a wide open, extremely well lit, well equipped shop.

I do visit here quite often, from the office, I just try not to log into sites while on the office computer. I don't need any of the guys (or gals) seeing that and thinking its acceptable for all. I have already had to squash some nuts when it came to Facebook on work hours.

Good to hear things are going well for you especially in this economy .

grumpy 05-10-2011 11:13 AM

Hey we understand. Gotta set a good example or everyone will spend their days on the web. Really glad to hear that the economy had not taken you under never to be heard from again.

Have you had a chance to take your car out this year ?

Hank70SS 05-10-2011 11:59 AM

Sounds like you're doing good Jeff, busy but good.

piette 05-12-2011 08:58 PM

The only time my car has seen on the road this year is to move it from the garage to my shop. I can't say as though the incredibly crappy spring weather this year has helped that situation any either.

Really I'm hoping that in another month to two months things will be running very smoothly and I can put in less time than I have to now. I will feel much better leaving the office for a night once I know all my files are correctly in place, the shop is organizied correctly, and just in general things are operating efficiently.

I'm actually at the office now yet, its 9:00 pm here. I'm sure I will be here another couple hours yet, then back to it at 6:00 am again.

I'm glad I did what I've done, but it is a lot of work trying to integrate all this together under one roof and make it work right.

Jeff
