Welcome Gary, I would have loved to own any of the vehicles that you have.

I am now thinking that we have Grandsport, Gary, owner of a 1970. And now 71-SS350, Gary, owner of a 1971. Do I see a trend here ?

Not sure if I can do this or not but will try and post a couple pics. Am quite the "tech challanged" indiviual, LOL. The pickup is my '71 long bed 4x4 I recently restored, behind it is my '55 2dr. wagon, another project in the wings, and in my garage is a '57 210 2dr. sedan, 283 w/dual WCFB carbs, Muncie 4spd and Mr. Gasket shifter. To many projects, now that I'm retired hope to get some work done on them instead of just gathering parts and wishin'. Also just finished building a 35' x 50' shop where the '55 is sitting.

Welcome Gary. I am a fan of long roofs also, gots a 59 Sedan Delivery.

Yep those Army days are something to remember I got caught up in the first lottery of '69! I was on 8" SP Howitzers near the DMZ of Korea. The plane got diverted from Bein Hoa while in the air ... my biggest fear was the possibility of having to do my time in Germany!.

Boy I like that truck and want to see more of the 55 wagon. You dont happen to need a 55 2dr hardtop to go with your collection do you ? I have one that needs to find a new home .I just havent had the heart to advertise it too much yet ,seems nobody has any money .

Welcome! I would like to thank you for your service to our country. Sounds like you have some great vehicles. I really like the color of the Chevelle. Enjoy your retirement. Keep us posted with pictures of how the projects are coming along.

71-SS350 01-23-2011 09:43 PM

Thanks for the warm welcome and kind words folks. Will take me a bit of time to get familiar to the site but as the weather warms plan on spending more time with the Chevelle.

Much as I'd like I think adding a '55 2dr. hardtop is out of the question. Would really like to build one similar to the '55 Bob Falfa had in American Grafitti but the financial officer (aka re: wife) says "no more toys, just play with the ones you have". Almost word for word, LOL.

The wagon is tarped right now awaiting being moved into the 35x50 shop when it is done. A LLLOOOONNNNGGGGG way to go on it. 2dr. 210 Handyman, IL 6 banger (boat anchor now), 3 on the tree with underdash old school overdrive unit. Will try and post some pics of it some time in the future when it moves into the shop later come spring I would guess.

Lots of things I want to get rollin' on but right now the temp is 14 above, fireplace is cooking and I am SO ready for spring.

Forgot I do have this one pic of the '55 wagon loaded in the computer. Not the best but it shows a bit of what there is to work with. Also in this pic in the back ground is the old shed I tore down to replace with a new retirement shop. That is in the next pic coming up. The '56 Nomad belongs to my brother-in-law, storing it for him as he has no room for it. I keep telling him the storage charges may be covered by taking posession of the Nomad, LOL.

This is the 35x50 retirement "playhouse" I built replacing the old shed. Still need to do the electrical wiring before I move all the toys inside.

flash 01-24-2011 11:06 AM

I like those wagons and the playhouse is nice as well.
