So do you have your reservation at BI back? I may look at taking the motorhome and saving the $400 hotel bill. There is a lot right across the street from the BI parking lot and I believe you can park an RV in there for free. Hardly spend any time in the room anyway and it's just a little bit farther of a walk than the hotel. Still a lot closer than any hotels in town.

Bowtie-Bri 02-14-2011 12:54 PM

Unfortunately I don't own an rv and I don't think Carol would go for a tent especially if its hot out. We did get our room back so we'll be slumming it at the Bavarian Inn. ;)

RBeckman 02-14-2011 06:04 PM

Hank, if you give up your room let me know and Ill grab it. Thanks

Absolutely Ric, already had that in mind. If we go that route we'll contact them before we give up the room.

RBeckman 02-14-2011 08:11 PM

I on waiting list for 4 different hotels right now and no one has called yet

Don't worry Ric, they will. Theres always cancellations. I know you'll get a call from atleast 1 if not 2 of them.

Hank70SS 02-15-2011 06:59 AM

Like I said before Ric, you can't just sit on their waiting list. You have to keep calling. It only took one year for us to get into BI, Lynda kept calling every couple weeks starting in the spring. Finally one call they had an opening. I'm sure there were people on the list a lot longer than us. I'm also sure we wouldn't have that reservation if she hadn't called when she did.

If we do take the motorhome we'll work it out one way or the other.

Ms Grumpy 02-15-2011 03:23 PM

I wanna go ! I wanna go ! If anyone has suggestions on what hotels to keep calling, I would greatly appreciate it cause this would be our first year.

Any help, ideas would be great.

Hank70SS 02-15-2011 04:10 PM

I would start with the Bavarian Inn because they're right next to park. They also have the longest waiting list for the same reason. I can't remember all the other names. Google Frankenmuth and look for the hotels on Main St. Drury Inn, Springhill Suites, Fairfield Inn, Zehnders Splash Village. There is also a little place by the car dealer where you register. Some are a bit of walk to the park but you can always drive over to the big lot in front of the Bavarian Inn.

Ms Grumpy 02-15-2011 04:29 PM

Thanks Hank, I will start the process.. of calling day after day after day after day.... lol

They may give you a reservation just so you'll stop annoying them! Seriously, next month through June is a good time, once a week or so. Bavarian Inn will charge us one nights stay in June, the second night when we check out. A lot of people that have decided not to go will start giving up their rooms between now and June so they don't have to pay that bill in June. Not sure how the other places work it.

Ms Grumpy 02-15-2011 05:50 PM

Thanks for all the information. I will give it a try.

Bowtie-Bri 02-16-2011 12:49 AM

If your unable to get a room in Frankenmuth, you may want to try Birch Run. Good luck MS Grumpy! Persistence will pay off in the end! Don't forget to register for the show! :D

Good point Brian. There are a couple of hotels there and they'll be a lot cheaper than anything in Frankenmuth.

Ms Grumpy 02-16-2011 12:28 PM

Do you guys leave your cars parked in the show, or do you drive it back to your hotel. Or do you bring another vehicle. Considering that Frankenmuth is about an hour from my house, I could drive my car and leave the van at home.

Considering that We stay at the Bavarian Inn, we leave our car parked on the show grounds. They have super bright security lights set up at night. I haven't heard of anyones car being messed with.

Hank70SS 02-16-2011 03:11 PM

Even some people that stay in town leave their cars in the park overnight. Ric goes home to Fenton and leaves his car. I think that's just because he hopes I'll dry it off for him in the morning.

I said Ric 'HOPES' I'll dry his car. Never said anything about me actually doing it.

Be sure to bring a water blade and a chamois with you. If you ask Hank, maybe he will show you how to use them, if you know what I mean. :D In my old age, I'm always forgetting how to use that water blade thingy. Its a good thing Hank is going to be there. :drunk:

You can use mine Hank, only thing is you'll have to show me how to operate it.

Looks like everyone wants a 'lesson' on how to dry their car.

It is amazing how thoroughly soaked they are some mornings.

Not mine, when I get there it's always dry and the windows are rolled down. My car must be magic.
