Why can't people drive in the snow ?
I have spent the past 10 hours driving all over town, for one reason or another. I started out at about 10:30 this morning after we shoveled the driveway (my snowblower broke during the last snowstorm).
During the day I saw at least 5 cars buried in the snow on the side of the expressway, and when I say buried I mean it. One of the cars you could barely make out the color of the car there was so much snow on it. Many cars that had spun out. And the one I have to laugh at the most. Cars that attempted to turn onto side streets where the snow pile is as high as the front bumper of their car. I am sure that I am not the only person who thinks that they have seen some of the stupidest people on the road. Here are the rules that the drivers, here in Michigan, seem to live by.
Sorry....just needed to vent ! |
I thought it was just us southerners that couldnt drive on that stuff .Maybe with any luck spring will be here soon.
We don't need snow for drivers here to drive that way.
It was just a frustrating day, with people driving like idiots.
tell me about it people here in the CHI "chicago" are HORRIBLE drivers in the snow, when this past storm hit us, there were SOOO many accidents it was Stupid..wouldnt u think that after living in a city were it snows ull LEARN to DRIVE in the snow!!!!
They just close the roads here.
Same here ,when the first flake drops all hell breaks out and closures start.

Lets all drive safe and defensively. As far as the idiots out there are concerned......they'll never learn. Have a nice Day! :D |
I use to like driving home from work in the snow in my Z71. I'd drive a reasonable speed on the freeway and avoid the left lane. When ever I saw someone fly past me I'd wait to see how long before I saw them in the ditch and wave to them as I drove by.
3" to 6" of snow perdicted here tonight. People here do not know how to drive in it. Let the fun begin. I won't let my company truck even leave the office on snow days. Someone alway hits one, plus I about 2 hours work done for a 8 hour day.
I'm that guy passing you... and you won't see me in the ditch up ahead, because I'm riding on Bridgestone Blizzaks.

I was surprised today to get on a local e-way heading into downtown. There was still so much ice and snow on the road. Really snow plow guys? It was unbelieveable. There was ice in 3 of the 4 lanes, the exit ramps were not plowed, and people were driving way too fast. A 20 minute trip took over an hour, and that was not even in rush hour.

You won't regret getting them (or any snow tire). I picked up my Blizzaks cheap (used, $50 for all 4) and this was my first winter driving on snow tires... couldn't believe the difference, and I'll NEVER go back to driving on all seasons in the winter. After one snowfall with mine, I ordered a set of snow tires for my wife's car too (Firestone Winterforce... just as good in snow, but not as good on ice... 2/3 the price) I have become somewhat of a "tire snob" from the experience. :o |
I think as we get older we appreciate the difference in tires as we drive on the road. When we are younger we are just happy if they hold air.
Hell,I'm happy I still hold air.

We have Michelin X-ICE winter tires on my wifes 06 Chrysler 300C rearwheel drive. Awesome tires! She loves them. I have Cooper Discover M&S (mud & snow) on my 2000 Z71 Silverado. They work great!
I have the same tires on my Z71 Brian. I've pushed snow with the bumpers on that truck. If it get's worse than that I just stay home. I work from home so unless I have a Dr or Dentist appt. I don't have to go out in the deep snow. Isn't much I can't live without until they plow the roads so I don't have to deal with the crazies.
