Gas prices going up again.

So I hear that oil prices went up over $5 a barrel today. So what does that mean for us? Higher gas prices again. I even heard that we could be hitting the $5.00 a gallon price soon.

So what are you paying for gas now ?

Today we paid $3.19 a gallon for cash for regular gas. But we did see regular as high as $3.32 for cash. Add another 10 cents a gallon if you are going to use your credit card.

So even with 1/4 tank, I put $40 bucks in and my van is still not even full. I guess we will be driving my little gas mileage car sooner than later.

They must have heard about my new engine. :D

flash 02-22-2011 08:20 PM

3.25 per gallon for regular here.

grandsport 02-22-2011 08:48 PM

I had to buy gas for myself last week for the first time in about 30 years.:(

You definitely had gas pump shock !

Just curious, how much did you actually pay for gas the last time you pumped it and paid for it some 30 years ago?

I was just whining about not having company paid gas. You seem to forget about a certain daughter.:p

I'm really shocked to say that this time everything is going high either it is food or gas or petrol.I don't know what our government is doing.

Hank70SS 02-23-2011 07:06 AM

They say $10 a barrel is about 10 cents at the pump. The unrest in the middle east is pushing the price up but they also said the U.S. is awash in gas. Bottom line is they don't know what will happen. Could go up because of the trouble over there or could actually go down because we have so much gas here right now. We only get about 9% of our oil from the middle east so it won't affect our supplies but could affect global oil prices.

grumpy 02-23-2011 08:10 AM

Shot up about 15 cents a gallon here yesterday alone.

Same here, it's at $3.40 a gallon here now

Ms Grumpy 02-23-2011 02:55 PM

I just put gas in my car and paid #3.29 a gallon for cash.

I always pay with my Amex card. The 3% back is usually more than difference between cash and credit.

grumpy 02-23-2011 04:51 PM

We get 2% back from Costco on gas but damn those lines are always so long.

? The Amex card from Costco pays 3% on gas everywhere. We have the executive membership so we get another 1% on gas at Costco. If you don't have the executive membership check it out. It costs another $50 a year and you get 1% back on all Costco purchases. At the end of the year they mail you a check for the 1% savings. Take it to the service desk and if your 1% back doesn't amount to $50 they'll still hand you $50. You're savings plus the difference to make $50. If it's more than $50 then they'll give you that. Take the cash then do your shopping and pay with the card, more earnings. They have your $50 for a year but you can't really lose, not like the bank is going to pay you anything if you keep it there.

I don't pay for anything with cash, to many credit card companies that want to pay me to use their card. Mind you, I don't ever pay them interest charges because we always pay the cards off every month. As long as they're going to pay me I'll use their card.

crankshaft 02-23-2011 06:59 PM

here it went up to $1.26 a liter

Hank70SS 02-23-2011 07:39 PM

Glad I filled or almost filled the motorhome last week. $75 on the Amex card and the pump shutoff. Then $75 on the GM card and the pump shut off. It's almost full but I'll have to stop a few times on the way to FL.

flash 02-23-2011 09:03 PM

I never fill up anymore ,just enough to last a week at a time.

I usually fill up. If the price goes up or 10 cents a gallon that's only around 3% change in price. It's not worth it to have to make another trip to the gas station. We're in a semi rural area so going to the gas station is often out of the way. I also won't drive to a farther station to save a few cents a gallon unless it's on the way. If I save 4 cents a gallon on 20 gallons thats only 80 cents. You can easily burn up 80 cents just getting to from the farther station, especially in the pickup.

shadowgray396 03-07-2011 08:30 AM

Gas has gone up another 13 cents a gallon in a week around here. Now up to $3.60 a gallon. I'm going to have to charge extra for my pickups to the clients for the extra cost. Mileage charge not enough anymore to cover the cost to run the trucks. Hard to do business with in this economy.

Ms Grumpy 03-07-2011 06:43 PM

Decided to fill up the van before gas got too much higher. I had 1/8 of a tank and still cost $80.00. Damn !!!

Hank70SS 03-08-2011 07:40 AM

It's around $3.60 a gallon here in the Miami area. Glad the motorhome won't be moving for a while.

flash 03-08-2011 08:23 AM

I heard it will be $4 a gallon by this weekend ,I hope not.

I hope not too. I have a little over half a tank in the motorhome, after that we would have to start pushing.

chevguy65 03-12-2011 10:34 AM

3.23-3.45 depending on where you stop.

flash 03-12-2011 07:25 PM

3.59 here today. Less in other places .

Ms Grumpy 03-12-2011 08:27 PM

Gas prices were around $3.49 by me today. Will we ever see it under $3.00 again ?

flash 03-13-2011 06:09 PM

Not any time soon Im afraid .

grandsport 03-13-2011 09:21 PM

Looks like I'll be buying a lot of Toyotas and Hyundais.:p

Bowtie-Bri 03-13-2011 09:40 PM

Just topped off the wifes tank for the week @ $3.64. It was 3.65 across the street. I saved a whole penny per gal. :D

shadowgray396 03-13-2011 09:48 PM

Gas is between $3.65 to $4.00 around here for regular.
