We're outta here...
in few hours. Have to put a few more things in the motorhome. Then just wait until my uncle calls. He has to pick up my great aunt then go to his motorhome and hookup the car.
Hate to leave the pets here that long, our son will be here but he does have to work. They're use to having Lynda and I around all day. Don't want to take them because we want to go snorkeling in Key Largo, maybe a day cruise to the Bahamas, a ride to Key West. Those are really long days and we can't leave the dog locked in the motorhome that long. I'll check in later. I have an air card so will have internet access the whole time. I actually have some work I have to do the next few months so I need reliable access. Take care. |
You have a great trip. Enjoy the warm weather.

Good travels, how long are you gone for?

Safe and Happy travels Hank. I hope that you have a great trip. Let us know how you are doing.

Have a fun & safe trip Hank! We all wish we could go with you.
Bring some sunshine and warm weather back. Mike |

Got room for an unemployed Grandsport?:pHave fun!

Well we drove to Charleston WV Saturday. That was a long drive, we didn't get started until about 10AM waiting for my uncle. We're sitting in a state campground a little north of Columbia SC. Weather is really nice, I was outside last night, around 9, with a t-shirt on.
So far the motorhome has been running well, no problems. Temp gauge went up a little yesterday, around 210, maybe a little above. Hopefully it doesn't ho up more than that. I think we'll be stopping around St Augustine this afternoon. Take care, I'll chcek in later. |
Enjoy the warm weather as I know you have been looking forward to this trip.
|
Hope your enjoying yourself. Be safe.
|
Pulled into St Augustine yesterday afternoon. Huge brush fire along I-95, we lucked out. Traffic was backed up to the overpass at the exit we had to get off at. We were able to get off, people that passed that exit sat on the freeway for ours.
Stayed here an extra day and did some sightseeing today. Tomorrow on to Miami. Yesterday was a tough drive, lots of strong wind gusts blowing across the freeway. I was nervous about the mountains in WV, they were a breeze compared to fighting the winds. Hopefully tomorrow won't be as windy. |
I guess I can quit waiting in the driveway with my suitcase, cooler and lawn chair?

LOL, I guess we made a wrong turn, never did find your house Gary. |

Well we made it. We're in Miami, actually south west of Miami, not too far from Homestead. Weather was nice yesterday, pretty good ride coming down. Miles of burnt trees and brush along the freeway in 2 different areas, still smoldering.
Got setup here in the campground, had a few beers, grilled some burgers and crashed. Driving a motorhome is lot more work than driving a car. Wind gusts and semi's push you around. You're always driving, not like the car, I'm beat. Small fresh water leak going into the toilet. I'll have to figure out how that thing works and fix it. Turned the water off for now, I need to sit and enjoy my coffee for awhile. You all enjoy your day. |
Enjoy your time away. Glad to hear you are there safe.

Pulled the toilet out on Friday. First I had to go to HD to buy a long extension and deepwell socket. Slow drip from the water valve. Found some rust from iron in the water and a worn out O ring. Went back to HD, bought some O rings, silicone grease and plug to cap off the water line in case it sill leaked. Cleaned it up, replaced the O ring, greased it up, no more leak! What a relief, I though I was going to have to order a valve on line and have it shipped to my sisters house.
Visited with my sister and mom some yesterday. Close to 80 here right now, a little breeze, very comfortable. Hope everyone is doing well. |
So glad you made there safely Hank.
Enjoy your time there and bring some of that Florida sunshine back with you to melt this white crap here in the snowbelt. :D |
Glad to hear you made it down safely .The weather here in Georgia has been great until Friday .Started raining Friday night and just quit this morning, but we needed the rain .Plus it gave me time to work in my shop a bit. Its cold and windy now but will get warmer this week. Have fun down there.
|
Hank,
great to hear about your travels. I am very jealous about the 80 degrees. Hopefully one day we will hit that here. Safe travels... |
Cold front moved in over the weekend, only got in to the lower 70's. Low's in the 50's, back up to around 80 today. No rain, lot's of sun, nice breezes. We were really hoping for some nice weather but I guess we'll just have to suffer with this. Almost makes me wish I was back in MI, almost! :D
Hope you're all doing well. |
Hi Hank, glad you are having fun.Waving
|
Well it's time to pack up for the journey home. Not looking forward to the MI weather but it'll be good to be home. It's actually too hot here for me this week. Humidity went up last Friday and the temps have been around 90 which are record temps for this time of year.
We'll hit the road tomorrow morning and should be home on Monday. Don't know if I'll have a chance to check in until we get back so you all take care and have a good weekend. |
You aren't heading west on I-10, then north up 55 through TN, are you?
|
That wasn't in plan Jake. Up through Georgia then pick up 77 north through the Carolina's and WV.
Why do you ask Jake? |

Well thanks Jake. Next time we head out it will just be Lynda and I. It's hard, well not that way I would like, when traveling with someone else. We've been talking about the Texas gulf coast, South Padre Island, etc. That would be close to you I guess. Won't be for awhile though, have to figure out if we can afford to drive the motorhome to the end of the driveway. :D Also have to figure out how to pay for this trip. This MH can go through some gas, damn Chevy big blocks! Actually it's pretty nice. It's mine, it's my bed, my sheets, my pillow, well you get the idea. You can feel comfortable, I'm never comfortable in a hotel room. If and when we head your way I'll let you know, would really like to meet you in person.
|
Travel safe on your way home.
|
Well we made it. Got home around 2:30 - 3:00. Been out to the motorhome a dozen times since then, need this, need that, etc.
Not too bad a trip. Very windy in Georgia and SC on Saturday, gusts over 30 mph. What a chore trying to drive in that. Made it to Fort Mill, SC, just south of Charlotte. Sunday was good, drove to outside Columbus, OH. First problem was this morning. Didn't get 1/2 mile out of the park when my uncle called. Check engine light on and temp gauge pecked. Pulled into gas station and threw a gallon of 50/50 antifreeze, a gallon of regular antifreeze and a gallon of water. Drove to just south of Toledo/Bowling Green, OH and added another gallon of antifreeze and a gallon of water. No obvious leaks so it's a mystery where it's going. Probably a small leak when the engine is rev'ing and hot. He made it home from there with no problems. We'll look at it later. Glad to be home, weather sucks but it's still nice to be home. Hope everyone else is doing well. |
Glad you made it back.
|
Welcome Home.
|
Welcome home and glad you had a good trip.
|
I'm sure it's nice to be home. Good show.
|
Welcome home Hank!
Glad to hear you all made it home safely. |
Thanks everyone. It is good to be home. Damn it's cold out there this morning, that's okay, it's nice and warm in the house.
