I won a contest on a local radio station..how cool is this ?
 

At about 3pm today I was finishing up some work and getting ready to go pick up my kids from school. I heard my phone go off, and I figured I could get it later, then I thought I would see who it was from. It was from my brother Eric, the one who has helped me with my car. So I figured I would read what he wrote. His message was "Call WCSX. They just called your name for the Workforce".

Now one of the local radio stations here runs a promotion where they put you on their "payroll" and pay you $100.00 an hour. You have just 9 minutes and 47 seconds to call into the radio station when they call your name.

So here it is 3:05pm and I am scrambling to find the phone number. I finally find the number and start calling from my home number. The phone keeps ringing and ringing, and David says, maybe you should try calling from your cell phone. So I did. I was not about to give up, we are talking about 100 bucks !! I saw the clock turn to 3:09 and I was bummed, I tried, but no one answered. But just as I was going to give up, someone answered.

I was so excited, after verifying who I was, I was told that I was the winner. And if no one called in at 4pm, when another name was called, then I would stay on the payroll. Guess what, no one called in at 4pm. The game ends on Friday at 5pm and starts up again on Monday. So, unless someone calls in at 8am on Monday, when another name is called, then I will continue to be on the "payroll".

I just thought this was so cool. And I thought that I would tell you guys. If it were not for my brother, I would have never known. So thanks again Eric, I couldn't ask for a better brother !!!

Congrats Nancy. Before I became home based I listened to WCSX on my way to and from work every day. Until JJ and Lynn suddenly disappeared and were replaced with a couple of what sounded like teenagers. Couldn't take those guys in the morning and started using the CD player.

Ya know what Hank. David is the same way, he can only listen to the new guys in the morning for so long before they get on his nerves. I will say I like the music they play, not necessarily the radio personalities that they have.

Well I hope you get to stay on the work force for a few more hours. Then you can buy the drinks next time we meet up. :D

LOL, I did mean at a car show, so it's okay to tell grumpy.

I dropped my kids off at school at 7:50am this morning and my son asks if I am still on the workforce and I tell him we will see. As he gets out of the van he wishes me luck !!

So it's Monday morning at 10:32 and I am still on the workforce. I have won $800 so far, this is unbelievable.

I need to keep this going....I just keep thinking....I need a new trans, I need a new trans...

That's awesome, hope it keeps going for a few more hours. Guess I should join the work force since I'll be in need of employment soon.

So I got a call from Karen Savelli...I am still on the payroll for 11am. I just hope that this keeps this going !!

Well all the fun ended at noon today. That's OK. I still will have a nice payday, and it is a start on getting the trans for my car.

Thanks to everyone for their well wishes. I feel bad because I had good news today and today Hank had some bad news, he just lost his job. I wish Hank the best of luck in surviving this bump in the road.

I went to the radio station last week to claim my prize, or at least verify who I am so that they will issue me a check in 4-6 weeks. Which by the way has already been spent on a hydroboost conversion for my Chevelle.

Then today I get a text from my brother Eric, he is the one who let me know my name was called on the radio. He said that his name was called and he is now on the Workforce. The amazing thing is that he just signed up a few days ago.

See, good things happen to good people. It is Karma !! I hope he wins a lot of cash, he deserves it.
