Tony's latest project.
Ray, Ric and I took a drive up to see Tony's '34 Ford. Jr. Johnson built 392 hemi, 5 spd. No Bondo, at least not any more. This is one bad ass ride, Tony has gone all out on it. Hope he brings it to Frankenmuth. Kathy said she'd drive the Nomad to haul the grill and propane so no excuse Tony.
Guess I should have taken a camera. Sorry guys, you'll just have to come to Autofest to see it. |
I started the wiring Monday. Won't be too long before it's on the road.
Dang thats cool as hell
Thanks Dave.
Nice project, love the old Fords.

I love the flames.

Very cool looking car!

Thanks Ray and Rattler. Hey Rattler, is Los Palmas near the towns of Patterson, Wesley, and Crows Landing? I worked at J.E.M. electric in Patterson in the late 70's and early 80"s. |
Love it!!! that will be a blast to cruise!
It started up with the key today. I'm going to put the seats and shifter handle in it in the morning and take it on it's maiden voyage. If it isn't raining again.
You've never been to my house Tony, I'll send you my address and you can swing by.
OK Hank. Not today though. Its' pouring rain again. Weather channel says rain for the next week. This crap is getting real old.
If you're serious about driving it that far, come on down. If not, well, just come on down in something else. We're pretty much here all the time.
2 big-ass black marks in the driveway. It lives!!!

This thing is a beast! Hot-Rod for sure. I've been making headliner bows for 4 days now. Man , what a job that has been. Should get them finished today.
You got the rest of the interior in? It should be a beast with that engine.
No interior yet Hank. I'm doing all the wood-work now. It is going to "The Mad Pleater", Gary Benway, in the next couple of weeks. He's 73 years old, has had some of his interiors win the Riddler. He figures this is the last car he will do. I have to do all the drilling, cutting, crawling around in the car. He aint too limber anymore.
I don't feel so limber anymore either. Can't wait to see it finished. I really gotta see how you're going to fit in that car. Kathy, yes she'll fit but it might be a little tight for you. ....Just thinking, I'm a lot smaller than you, I could drive it for you if you want, just a thought.

I actually fit in it real nice. I moved the clutch and brake pedal rear-ward 3"s and put the seats about where the rear seat would normally be. Plenty of leg room now. I moved the steering colum back quite a ways too. Kathy will have to look at the traffic signals for me. Too far to bend down with the top chop so radical.
That looks like one really "C@@L" hot rod Tony! Is this what your planning to bring to Frankenmuth this summer? :banana:Post up more pics when you get a chance Tony. :)

Damn Tony you must be getting old to care about those traffic signals. :drunk: |
Hey Brian...I'll most likely bring the Nomad to Frankenmuth. I can get a lot of junk in it. I'm trying to get some pictures up, but am having trouble. I think I get it figured out, then bam..no works.
Ric...hell yes I'm old! I am so stinking sore from crawling around this car, I'll never heal up. |
Don't we all wish that we were able to drive more than one car at a time, to all the shows we go too.

I don't know how to make them smaller. At least I got this far!
Nice grille, car looks good too. Is that Josie or num nuts, I mean Axle?

Well, I've got around 100 miles on it. No problems so far. I finished making the head-liner bows, made backing for all the interior panels, made garnish molding backing, got all the insulation put in, some extra courtesy lights installed, dome light installed. I took it to the interior shop yesterday. We got both front door panels cut out. Going back today to start on the real quarter panel-boards. Interior work is kinda hard!
So it's almost done, can't wait to see the finished product. You do good work Tony.
Thanks Hank. We got the kick panels, front and rear firewall , both rear quarter panels, the top for the package tray, and the header panel cut and fit today. Hotter than hell in his shop. No AC. He has the design laid out on the rear firewall and package tray. It is going to look like there are rear seats, but there isn't. Kinda hard to describe. Hank, you gotta drive this thing!

We got the drivers side rear panel and door panel upholstered and installed today. Man, does it look good. The interior guy, Gary Benway, AKA "The Mad Pleater", is one hell of a craftsman. He is 73 years old and has been doing this work for 53 years. He has had 3 cars he did the interior on win the Riddler Award. He has had 8 cars in the Great Eight. That says a lot right there. I got all the holes for the clips in the panel board for the kick-panels and the rear fire-wall. 47 holes in the fire-wall. Gary says that I over-build everything.
Are you able to get close to the car ? Looks like that is one heck of a guard dog.
