I need to name an award, can you help me.

I am looking to have Chevelleforum.net sponsor an award at a car show and I am trying to figure out what "theme" I should have for this award.

A sample of some of the awards that will be handed out are
Best Chevelle
Best El Camino
Best of Show
Best Grocery Getter
Best Paint
Best Graphics

But I am trying to think of something that would represent the site, and something that someone would say, "That is a cool award".

So I need your help in giving me ideas, please. Any and all ideas would be appreciated. Thanks for your help.
Nancy

I win, I win, what did I win? Hopefully another brick.

Hank70SS 05-17-2011 05:59 PM

Best Rat Rod Chevelle, maybe I could win that one. Seriously, I'm drawing a blank right now, as I usually am. If I can think of something I'll let you know.

When I go to a car show I want to see the "regular" guy win an award. The one who has owned the car for a while and put the blood and sweat into making the car what they want.

When I go around to car shows I talk to everyone, just ask grumpy he loses me all the time. I ask all sorts of questions about their cars. Some people just ignore me, and some are just so proud of what they have done. These are the kind of people that I would love to see win an award. So how do I put that into words.

Another thing that I considered was taking a bunch of pics of my favorites, and narrowing it down to 10 cars and posting the pics, and letting the members at our site vote on their favorite. This way people who are unable to make it to the show can help decide. This could be a nightmare or it could work very well. What do you think ? And what would we call it. The Chevelleforum.net favorite ? We are going to have a plaque made up to give away. Please give me your thoughts.

I like that too, but I thought that they would probably say who the heck is Nancy ?

I like "best driver". Find a nice car with stones in the tires, bugs in the grill and an ass groove wore into the seat. One where the shift knob is wore down, rubber on the quarters, and the chrome just may not be perfect.

Those are the kinds of cars I like to look at at a carshow. The perfect numbers matching cars don't do much for me. Not to take anything away from them, but if youve seen one youve seen them all. I like something thats driven hard.

I like those too.

Still looking for input guys.

What could be another way to use "Best Driver" as suggested by piette.

Chevelle_Nut 06-17-2011 11:48 AM

I like the average guy winning too. At the CB shows you can tell automatically who is going to win because every year they win. I go to shows not expecting to win, I go for the fun.

The MD Club excludes the winners from the prior year from winning and gives them their own class so other people a chance to win.

Give an award to a car in progress, a young person's car and if you want a best of show. Giving an award to the average car encourages people to keep coming back.

Ms Grumpy 06-17-2011 07:46 PM

That's what I want to do. But should we call it the "average guy" award. Just doesn't sound good. Maybe we should just call it the Chevelleforum.org Peoples Choice. Hey that doesn't sound to bad...what do you guys think ?

I really wanted to make it something different..what about "Members Choice". Cause even if I cannot get online to post pics, grumpy and I are still members. And flash will be there too.

flash 06-17-2011 08:58 PM

Chevelleforum.org/Members Choice sounds like a winner .Bill Burke will also be there .

When a guy has to put in 40 hours week in week out just to get together enough money to buy that American made quarter panel and busts his knuckles putting it on then that dedication should be reward ... not when the project is compleated but more appropriately during the actual build itself .... sorta a "Diamond in the rough" award ... blood sweat and tears spent and more to go.

.... or you could give a award to the person that maxed out their creditcard reaching the highest amount spent with the least chance of repaying the loan while paying some "technician" to build them a car ..... LOL There are a few of those out there!

Ms Grumpy 06-21-2011 05:13 PM

Rank you have great suggestions. I agree that I would like to see the guy who is doing it himself get the award. I am still open to award names. There are a few we like, but someone has a name out there that we are going to read, and go "that's it".
