Oh Boy!

The sirens are going right now. We're under a tornado warning, storm front supposed to be here in about 30 minutes. We only hear the siren on the first Saturday of the month when they test them. We are surrounded by trees and there is not a single leaf moving out there right now.

It's always something!

Those of you in Livingston, Washtenaw, and Lenawee counties stay safe. They just mentioned Genesee county Tony and the rain just started.

grandsport 05-29-2011 04:29 PM

Stay safe buddy.

Hank70SS 05-29-2011 04:45 PM

Power just went out. Internet and laptop are battery. Talk to you later.

Hank70SS 05-29-2011 05:29 PM

Running on generator, storm moved through quickly. They said it was moving between 60 and 70 mph. No damage here, just no power. Great, gas is around $4 a gallon and I have to run a gas generator.

It's always something!

Hank70SS 05-29-2011 05:46 PM

Well it appears to be all gone, including power.

Gary, how is Lindsay doing? I hope the surgery was a success and she'll be free of pain.

Terrible year, you all stay safe out there. No power is not a big deal, we're all safe and no damage. Can't say the same for many of country men.

FlintTony 05-29-2011 06:16 PM

Storm hit pretty good here Hank. Lots of rain and wind. Funnel clouds in Perry. We have power, but the whole yard is flooded now. I hope you get your juice back on quickly. Nice to see a little rain here after this extremely dry Spring.

Ya! We could really use the rain, there are a few spots in my yard not under water yet.

Oh well, like I said, no tornadoes, no damage. Could be a lot worse, just look at the rest of the country. I'll take this any day over what many have had to suffer through.

Hey, how's the new ride? Had it out much? I need a ride in that beast! I'll be you're spotter for traffic lights.

grandsport 05-29-2011 07:02 PM

Lindsay is good. She has pain from the surgery of course but she is well. The only time it doesn't hurt is when she is standing or walking.I told he I would try to get a hold of Mr. Ed to find out how he sleeps standing up.

Ms Grumpy 05-29-2011 07:47 PM

My kids came in around 6pm and said that the tornado sirens were going off. I told them they were probably hearing things. Then I turned on the news. Luckily we missed most of the storm, got some hard rain, but no damage. Knock on wood.

Hank, I hope everything is OK. Thinking maybe we need to start a "Mother Nature Fund" for everyone who has to use their generators, especially when gas is $4.00 a gallon.

Pain from the surgery is to be expected, I hope that's it and she'll be like new soon.

Everything is fine here Nancy, thanks. No power but that's a minor inconvenience. Other than the noise from the generator all is good, damn that thing is loud, or maybe it's my neighbor's, or my other neighbor's.

shadowgray396 05-29-2011 11:44 PM

Glad to hear everyone is ok. Glad we don't get tornado's much around here. One about ever five years or so.

Hank70SS 05-30-2011 08:05 AM

DTE estimate to restore power is between 9:30 PM and 11 PM today. Supposed to be 90 today and we can't run the AC on the generator. It's going to be a bit uncomfortable around here today.

72ss383 05-30-2011 08:54 AM

glad to hear your safe..what size generator do you have?

Hank70SS 05-30-2011 09:56 AM

It's 5500 watts, 8500 surge. It keeps the furnace going in the winter, runs 2 frig's, a deep freeze, tv, lights. We just cooked breakfast on the stove top. Don't think it will handle the oven though. Most important thing is it runs the well pump. You can do with out a lot of the other stuff but when you don't even have water it's no fun.

Ms Grumpy 05-30-2011 06:13 PM

So did you get your power back Hank ? I hope that everything worked out well and that you got your air on.

Hank70SS 05-30-2011 07:18 PM

No power yet, latest update is 1:30 in the morning. I can't complain, okay yes I can. Those guys are out there working in this heat trying to get the power restored. I'm too old for this, I can't take 90 degrees and high humidity. I took a shower, grilled some steaks, boy were they good and now I need another shower.

Oh well, life is good. No electricity for a day or so is not a big deal. I could jump in the motorhome, start up the generator and turn on the AC. We're all good here Nancy, thanks for asking.

flash 05-30-2011 09:37 PM

Glad ya'll are OK up there ,missed all this yesterday somehow.

Hank70SS 05-31-2011 06:23 AM

Got power back yesterday evening. Hey, we had a whole day without rain, of course we're supposed to get more thunderstorms today.

Highway Star 05-31-2011 08:15 AM

I'm pleased that everything is seemingly back to normal. All this is far too familiar to me, hurricane season starts up soon down here.

All you Michigan people...glad you're alright. Being prepared is what makes the difference.

Hank70SS 05-31-2011 04:55 PM

Jake, we have nothing go on here like the hurricanes you guy's get. Stay safe.
