Albuquerque, N.M ( saying hi)

Hey everyone,
wanted to introduce our selves.
My name is Rich, and my wife's name is Tane.
We are not new to the car world, but we are new to the chevelle world.
Ever since I was six years old my dream car has been a 1970 Chevelle ss.
One of my neighbors had one and I told myself one day I would get one.
Little did I know they would become so expensive.
Well last week we finally bought one.. It's a #s matching 396. Bought it In California and am waiting for it to be delivered. Don't know when that will be,
since Mekum auction was 2 weeks ago the shipping company is backed up delivering those cars.
As soon as it arives I will be posting pics.
Seems like the people on here are nice and have a ton of knowledge , hope to learn alot without bugging everyone with my questions.
Well that's about it for now.
Rich

Welcome Rich and Tane ,this is a fun place .

Rharp 06-04-2011 10:38 AM

Thanks for the welcome everyone.
I sure like looking through this site in hopes of learning something about these cars.
I'm not a wrench so I need all the help I can get.
My wife and I own a machine shop, so most of our time is spent dealing with it.
Not alot of spare time for much else. This and not knowing how to work on cars is why we chose to buy one in tip top shape already. I do intend on driving it, but I don't know how much.
I will be sure and post some pics ( if it ever gets here).
Well hope everyone has a great weekend, either workin on there cars or driving them.
As for me I think I'll take a cruise on the Harley to take my mind off the fact that my car isn't here yet.

Hi Rich, welcome to the site. Not sure about the knowledge thing, at least on my part, but we are a friendly group. Love to see some pics of your car when it arrives. We have 70 SS 396, well it's a 454 now since it wasn't number match when I got.

Welcome to the Chevelle family. I'm up in Santa Fe a couple months a year so a cruise is in the future.

Rich I would suggest that in going to the local car shows, find out where people take their cars for work/repairs. Find out who the other drivers trust. That way you can always make a call or stop into a shop if you have a question that we cannot answer. It is always nice to know those type of places, just in case.

Thank you for the advise, I will deffinately take it to heart.
As said before, I did buy this car to drive on occasion so I'm sure that at some point or another something is gonna go wrong with it.
But that's to be expected, so I will find someone local that I trust, and also ask some questions here.
I'm not afraid to tackle some stuff, but nothing to crazy.

Tane just told me nothing will ever go wrong with the car because all I will do is put it in the garage, drink beer, and drool over it. haha

Hey Gary
you've actually seen my car.
I posted it up on another forum in the " what's it worth " section
the thread was titled question for the pros.

grandsport 06-05-2011 11:20 PM

Did I post on it?

Rharp 06-05-2011 11:26 PM

Sure did.
Said you thought it was a nice car and if I liked it I should buy it.
Threads on page 5
with a link to the car, check it out.
When I saw your name here I thought
huh that sound familiar.

I found it. You should be happy with it as it is a beautiful car.Just needs some attention underneath. I bet you can't wait until he gets to your house!

Rharp 06-05-2011 11:42 PM

I agree about the underneath.
And sleep has been very little now for 8 days.

Rharp 06-11-2011 11:05 PM

Got good news today.
The truck finally picked up my car.
I should be seeing it Monday or Tuesday.
I can't believe I've wanted one of these things for about 35 years and in a couple more days there will be one in my garage.
LIFE IS GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!
