Selling my turtle :(
Hate to sell but have no choice, need the money :(. 1970 Chevelle Malibu with numbers matching 307, powerglide, and 10 bolt rear end. Great daily driver, will fire right up and drive anywhere. Great for someone to drive daily and restore as you want, and the ice cold A/C will keep you cold even in the hot summers here (I drove it all last summer, and winter heat works well also) Here is a list of parts installed:
-Completely rebuilt drum brakes all the way around (new shoes, new wheel cylinders, new master cylinder, and new hardware kits) -New Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks on all four corners -New Eibach 2" lowering coil springs up front -New front suspension (Center Link, Inner and outer tie rods, tie rod adjusting sleeves, ball joints, control arm bushings, and pitman arm) all MOOG parts -Rear tubular lower control arms -HEI ignition -New Thermostat, thermostat housing, and upper radiator hose -New Alternator -Starter replaced about two years ago -New transmission filter and gasket -New Holley street avenger 600cfm electric choke carburetor And here is a list of NEW parts not yet installed but DO come with the car -Edelbrock dual plane intake -Full length headers with extenders and all gaskets -2.5" mufflers -Rear tubular upper control arm -Rear upper control arm energy suspension bushings -Accel hi-performance wires (currently has accel wires installed, but the new ones are a little better) -Driver's side rear quarter patch panel -One gallon of DuPont snakeskin green paint (found on '08 Dodge Viper) and one quart of black (for SS stripes) (over $600 in paint) Have receipts for over $1200 in parts, not to include labor. Interior is complete, has AM/FM CD MP3 player that the previous owner installed. Now for the bad, the front floor boards need patched (just patches will fix, no need for full floor boards), front driver's side fender needs replaced, passenger side fender needs a lower patch panel, passenger side rear quarter needs a skin, needs a rear bumper, hood has small holes where a cowl was installed, cowl needs patched, and doors need a little attention. Email for pictures (I have plenty) and with any other questions. Price is $6,500 o.b.o. no trades. |
Sorry to hear you have to part with it but good luck with the sale.
|
That is sad when you have to sell something you love just to survive. I hope you get the right buyer.
|
Yes, it isn't a good feeling but it has to be done I suppose. I've been driving it everyday (and taking the for sale sign off the window once I'm out of view of the wife lol) We agreed that the house is a little more important though.
I am slightly flexible on price so if anyone knows someone looking please point them my direction. [email protected] is my email, I appreciate it everyone. |

I wish I had the bucks Turtle, I would take it off your hands.
|
I hope your luck is better than mine when it comes to selling anything . When I buy something it seems to be the only one left and worth Fort Knox and then when its for sale I cant give it away.
|
Seems to be what I'm running into Flash. Getting tons of phone calls, but I guess 5500 around here should get you a fully restored 70 Chevelle?! My wife, on the other hand, sold her car just three days after starting to advertise for it.

I'm running into the same problem with my 70 Malibu. I thought selling it with the 400sbc and everything else original to the car with brand new interior kit would be worth $5,000. It even comes with a 1987 L98 350 out of a Corvette rebuilt with a Comp Cams 268H cam and all brand new valvetrain with HD springs and double roller chain set with an Edelbrock performer intake and Holley 650 carb. I got the 12 bolt rear going with it too. Don't forget the factory Disc brakes too! I got original GM door panels and everything else for the interior is new except the dash as I planned on replacing it with an SS Dash (ended up buying another car) I figured I'd end up getting $4,500 for it but so far out of the 40+ phone calls and about the same amount of e-mails I have gotten 1 person to actually come look at the car and he told me I was asking too much. I said make an offer and he told me $1,000. It actually pisses me off people will make an offer like this. He pulled up in a beat to hell explorer and asked if I would be interested in a trade. I just junked an 87 Caprice a few weeks ago and got $600 for it. I don't know what people think. I bet if I sold it to him for a grand, I couldn't buy it back from him for anything under 5.

I have a 55 Bel Air ,2 dr hardtop I was trying to sell and just got tired of the lowballing and decided to pull it off the market for the time being .I was offered trades for street rods ,vacant land and even 1/2 of a duplex but no decent cash offers .Its a bad time to try to sell anything right now unless you need the small amount of cash people think you will take . Im not hard up for the cash as much as I wanted more room in my shop and I seldom ever drive the 55 .My El Camino and Malibu vert are my 2 favorite cars to drive . Good luck out there guys.

Sold my '69 SS396 two weeks ago...took about one week after posting it on one Members Only site.:)
To be honest Turtle...I've looked at your Chevelle. IMO, I believe what's hurting a sale the worst is the color combo and body work required. Sorry...just offering feedback from a prospective buyer. ;) |

The body work will definitely scare quite a few people away. Once you start cutting into a car it just never seems to stop.... |

Priced to move like all my other items I've offered for sale. |
When I was looking for a 1972 Chevelle last year I only had $5,000 to spend ... and couldn't find one! I did end of finding another 4-door, which I was fine with, and had a little money left over for body work and paint so now I have a great Chevelle that I should get many years of enjoyment from.
