My job is killing me.....
well not in that sense, but do I really need this? The money is more than I have ever dreamed of but is almost 80 hours a week worth it? I know I had a 5 year plan, but I won't live that long at this pace.I have no time for anything at home or at work.I don't even have time to log on here. Maybe I'm ranting a bit,but is the money really worth it? I want my old job back.:(

Been there done that, that why I'm doing what I'm doing now. Still travel some but work less make less money but I could not be happier. Not much stress and I'm having fun again and spend more time with my wife and she is my best friend again. I know by reading your post you are a hard working guy and well respected. I wish you luck on what ever direction you decide to go. You will be in our prayers.

A lot of people would give their eye teeth to just have a job in this economy, let alone one that pays well.
Talk to your boss and explain to him that you need to work less hours. That is what I would do. |

Gary, your health and happiness is very important. Remember this doesn't only affect your health and happiness, it affects Maureen's. I know how important your family is, and I remember how excited you were when you first started at this place. You are a smart guy and I am sure that you will figure this one out. Best of luck with your decision. And feel free to vent. |
Just bustin on Gary a bit.
I used to be a GM manager for a major grocery store. I was a lot younger and was working 80+ hrs a week. It takes a toll on you and if I was to do it over again I would have requested less hours. I may have been demoted but I would have been a lot happier. I stuck it out for way to long thinking the money was worth it. But how much is it worth when your always working or to tired to do anything but eat and sleep. I left that job and never missed it. |
Hope you at least got some time off this weekend.

Try to keep your chin up, I know you been working long hours. Just keep the goal in front of you, and the time will go by quickly to help your daughter out.

That is why I turned down the supervisor position where I work due to the stress of it .I was doing the job for over a year when my previous boss was out on sick leave and after his death without a penny more pay and doing my regular job on top of that .They did not appreciate all that I did ,not even a thankyou .I actually put the guy that is my current boss in that position and he turned on me because everyone likes me and as much as they like me they dislike him .The people there saw what he was doing to me and they started giving him the cold shoulder and would have nothing to do with him so he seems to have changed his ways for now .Everyone knows I will help them and he will not and he wanted to cut off all contact between me and all my old friends there and it finally backfired on him.

It was great to get to talk to you on the phone the other night. Finally can put the face and now the voice together.

Working in Management certainly takes a person who has a lot of drive. Unfortunately, usually the upper management find a way to keep adding to your job, especially if you are good at it. Remember to stop and make time for your family Gary. You mean too much to them. And you mean a lot to your friends here too.
