Weekend damage report?

Well, I don't see any bad news this weekend from you guys here. I hope that means everyone had a decent week-end. No broken bodies, no hospital trips, things are looking up!

RBeckman 12-04-2011 05:49 PM

I'm good...actually got to work around the house today and got some of the Christmas lights up. I learned from Hank....stay off the ladder so everything is eye level this year.

Ms Grumpy 12-04-2011 06:57 PM

I spent the day helping my brother with his "new" house. New meaning that he just purchased it about a month ago. This house was abandonded by people who were not happy. Needless to say, there were no kitchen cabinets, the bathroom was extremely nasty and the rest of the house needs extreme cleaning.

We, my mom and I, have spent many days cleaning windows, washing walls and just trying to clean up as much as we can. Today we were hoping was going to be a painting day, or at least primer on the walls in one bedroom and the kitchen. I don't know what the past owners did to the walls, but, even with us scrubbing the walls with scrubbies, we were still having problems with the primer on certain sections of the walls. Spent 8 hours and finally got the bedroom almost done, and the kitchen ceiling done. Time to rest, cause we will be back on Tuesday morning.

I just laid them on the grass this year. They look nice now, not sure what they'll look like covered with a foot of snow.

Didn't do anything dangerous and didn't break anything. Made new seat bottom and back and covered them for the lawn tractor. Skid plates on bottom of snow blower were worn away so welded some flat stock in place. Mounted the snow blower on the tractor and tried to get things adjusted. Belt that came with it is to short and the PTO pulley walks over and engages the clutch when the engine is running. Even though the clutch is disengaged. I'll sort that out later this week and we should have a nice tractor and snow blower for the winter.

Christmas lights,phone lines,cable tv,anything electrical or dangerous.Maureen is my go to person.Really.Waving

shadowgray396 12-04-2011 10:42 PM

Spent most of the weekend working on the house. Could not believe how nice this weekend weather was. I was on a ladder a lot. Had to paint overhangs and put up siding before winter rains get here.

FlintTony 12-05-2011 04:17 AM

Sounds like everyone did OK. Ray, the house is looking good.

Hank70SS 12-05-2011 06:21 AM

Looks like a new house, nice work.

Derek69SS 12-05-2011 11:45 AM

Glad you're better Derek, the flu can really knock you out of commission for awhile.

I can usually tough out some stomach pains, but I couldn't keep anything down... since I couldn't drink my daily overdose of coffee, I had a massive caffeine headache that lasted all day.

Ms Grumpy 12-05-2011 06:28 PM

Glad to hear that you are doing better Derek. I still have a cough, the remnants of a cold I had about a month ago.

The flu, thank God I haven't it for a few years, can make me hurt so bad all over. I can't do anything for days but lay in bed. Glad you're over it and back among the living.

shadowgray396 12-05-2011 07:04 PM

Hope everyone is well for the Christmas season, no fun being sick.

flash 12-09-2011 05:34 PM

Hope everyone has a great weekend and be safe.

shadowgray396 12-16-2011 07:29 PM

Hank70SS 12-16-2011 07:56 PM

Don't break any body parts Ray!

grandsport 12-16-2011 08:48 PM

I really want a beach home.:(

Ms Grumpy 12-17-2011 09:24 PM

My brothers house has so much standing water in his back yard right now, that you would think he had beach front property. lol

shadowgray396 12-18-2011 12:03 AM

We have been having the driest December on record. Last year at this time I was trying to add a laundary room on in soaking rains. I have been able to do projects on the house I figured I would not be able to do it until next next spring. Made some progress today. More siding and reset the door today and installed the door trim and Barb (my wife) did the painting for me.

My week-end went pretty good. I bought an older Hein-Werner, 2 ton floor jack for 25 bucks. Put some hydraulic oil in it, cleaned out the check balls, and it works like new. Big old heavy monster, but shes a dandy. One of my friends, not so good though. He's a just retired Sheriffs Deputy, Sgt, and he went up a set of outside stairs to a second floor. The railing broke, he fell to the ground and landed in a pile of junk. Broke his right femur. Went to the hospital in an ambulance. They put a plate in his leg. Friday night, he dreamed he had a B&E call, so he got out of bed to go on the call. He fell and broke his left femur. They are doing surgery on that one in the morning.

OUCH !! What a bummer. Now he is going to end up being in a wheelchair.

Second wettest year on record around here and we didn't have any rain during the summer months. All of it in the spring and fall.

That really sucks, sounds worse than a broken pelvis. At least I still had one leg to use. Was that one of the 2 guys we met at your house a few weeks back?

SS Shaun 12-19-2011 08:23 AM

Not one of those guys. If you remember Shawn, the guy with all the tattoos, he worked on the Fugitive Recovery Team. They captured the worst of the worst. He just lost a Federal court case that was filed against him and 3 of his team members. The dirt-bag claimed they used "excessive force" when he was arrested. Didn't matter that the criminal tried to run them down with his truck. The Court figured they should have been able to "jump out of the way" of the vehicle.

Hank70SS 12-19-2011 02:25 PM

Shawn is the one that is been to Autofest, right, not the red haired guy? I do remember him, Henry and talked to him quite a bit when we were there. That sucks for him too. Send guys out to deal with the scum then hang them out to dry.
We have a scum bag, drug head around the corner. Arrested and imprisoned while a minor. Sued the state, won a bundle and bought that house. Was a real nice house, now there are broken windows, you can see cupboards hanging half off the wall. He should probably still be in prison.

shadowgray396 01-02-2012 12:09 PM

More progress

Well it's been a year now on the project. Worked on it through some of the worst weather we could have had last year to some unusual nice weather this winter. Made some progress over the weekend

From this a year ago to now. Also got my blood pressure back to normal and felt good to do something this last weekend.

grandsport 01-02-2012 06:44 PM

Threw my back out scooping up dog poop. I don't know why I threw it out,but I kinda need it.

Man,I can't go anywhere on here without hearing about or seeing that freakin' beach house.

shadowgray396 01-02-2012 07:14 PM

Don't worry Gary it won't become a beach forum. Now that the wife is happy (and we want the wife happy Lol) maybe I can get back to my car.

My goal in life is to be a beach bum, selling grease by the shoreline.

flash 01-03-2012 01:42 PM

You seem to do just fine selling cars but whatever your dreams are go for it.

RBeckman 01-03-2012 05:03 PM

Ray, I like reading and seeing your beach house...it's your passion and thank you for sharing. And you are correct, "when wife's happy, everyone is happy"

flash 01-03-2012 05:20 PM

I would love to visit Ray's part of the country again one day as its very beautiful out there and Ray and his club are great hosts as well.

Ray's done a ton of work there, place looks great. Reminds me of when we had the place in Caseville. Wasn't on the beach but was within a short walk to it. Still miss having it, Wish events hadn't forced us to sell it.

Don't we all know that! Well they can make us happy too so I guess it all works out.

Ms Grumpy 01-05-2012 10:01 PM

You guys are right, when the wife is happy it certainly makes everyone else happy. At least it's that way at my house.
