Who's Red Chevelle SS...

...is pictured in the banner at the top of the page?

grandsport 01-03-2010 11:01 AM

I don't know but a couple of the guys were picking it apart already. Something about a wrong part number on the grille.:D

grumpy 01-03-2010 11:01 AM

Ya know I am not really sure. It was an image our webmaster used.

It was mentioned in another thread that it appeared to be either a 72 with 71 parking lamps or 71 with 72 grill.

If nobody claims it I will gladly take it.

Dave 01-04-2010 12:40 AM

It's just right.

Pieced together, just like mine.;)

bad.samaritan 01-04-2010 03:47 AM

I hadn't noticed the differences in the grills. Looks awesome though that color is gorgeous

Highway Star 01-04-2010 07:11 AM

Yeah, that thing is pretty nice. I don't know what the difference in the two grills is about though.

Garyb 01-04-2010 05:19 PM

That's not a Chevelle...they only made Chevelle's with 4 headlights...Everybody knows that....:)

71 grille is silver with chrome trim, 72 is blacked out. Basically, in a nutshell.

Did they still make them in '72? I thought they quit after '69. ;)

Hank70SS 01-04-2010 07:19 PM

72's are cool, add 2 more headlights and they'd be down right awesome.

1966malibu 01-04-2010 10:09 PM

Heck I thought it went down hill after the 66/67 body style came out.
Its hard to beat perfection :D.

Absolutely, That's what I've always been told. Real Chevelles have 4 headlights.
and I always thought all Chevelles wanted to be Red also.

No they do actually come in more years than one! It's just some years are better than others. I'm trying not to be biased here.

I started a thread on it in General Talk Friday night..Didn't mean to sound like I was picking it apart. I just noticed it had a 72 grille and 71 park lights and headlight buckets, that's why I said 71 with a 72 grille.:)

Jeff has a pretty good supply. He just didn't have the date code I needed.

I was going to buy a 70 but I couldn't figure out how to make it look like a 65:)

mmurphy77 01-05-2010 10:24 PM

You can't spit without hitting a '70 Chevelle! Didn't they make like a 100,000 of them? LOL

66BuickSpecial 01-06-2010 07:52 AM

My Buick has 4 headlights.. does that make it a "real" Chevelle?:D
