New from Michigan

Hi everyone, I picked up this 72 Chevelle the day before Thanksgiving (just in time to put it away for the season:() I got to drive it a whole 10 miles! I've been trolling the Chevelle sights every day since, trying to absorb what I can. I was looking around here and thought you don't have enough people on here from MI., so thought I would add one more.:D

This car started life as a green Malibu w/ a 350ci. and a column shift, but was ordered with buckets, I'm told a woman ordered the car and wanted buckets & column shift so she could put her purse between the seats. The owner prior to me did a frame off res. and made it an SS clone. He left the interior green, put new green vinyl top on, and you can't tell from garage pics, but the stirpes are actually a very dark matalic green too. I'm just itching to drive this thing! I'm going to give this picture thing a try, hope it works. Thanks for looking.

Gary

Specs are:
440 CI
400 TH
12 bolt w/ 373 poss.

Welcome to our site. Nice looking car you have there.

Another Michigander here.

I think that we need to get you to go down to the NOCC show, need as many as we can from "these parts". You should check out the thread on the Northern Ohio Chevelle Club show. It is a great show to go to, especially to show off your car.

Where's Lenard located?

I'll have to check this out when I get home, sound nice and close. We've been thinking about going to the Chevellabration, but that won't happen this year. I have relatives all through middle TN., so I won't have to worry about where to stay.

I guess it would help if I could spell the name of the town I've lived in for 26 years:confused:, I fixed the typo, and Leonard is in the NE corner of Oakland Co.

Oh, okay. You're not too far from most of us Michigan members. We should all meet up this summer at a local show.

RBeckman 01-31-2012 02:21 PM

Hi Gary,

I'm in Fenton right where N.W. Oakland and Livingston and Genesse come together. On Sunday's a good place to come is Bakers in Milford over by the GM proving grounds.

I'm in! I know that area pretty well, My step daughter use to live in Fenton off Garnge Hall rd. in a sub called Adoverwoods or somthing like that. I also frequent Guns Galore a lot since some of my other passions are hunting, shooting, & reloading. Grange Hall is a really nice drive from Ortonville to Holly, and there's some really nice roads between Fenton and Milford too!

Yes it is, I know where Adoverwoods is, I'm live right behind the High School in a sub call "Hills of Tyrone". People come from all over to Guns Galore, anytime I mention I live in Fenton they all know Guns Galore. Lot of good Cruises around here, check out Back to the Bricks in Flint and Frankenmuth Auto Fest are a couple of the big ones.

Bakers is cool on Sundays in the summer. We have only been a couple times, but the cars are really cool. And the food isn't too bad either.

So I am in on meeting up at Baker's. I should have the Chevelleforum stickers by then if anyone wants one.

SS Shaun 02-01-2012 05:26 PM

welcome to the site nice looking chevelle you got

Ms Grumpy,
Maybe we should start a new thead about Bakers in the "Events, shows or back yard gatherings" section and possibly make this a regular meeting place for the forum members.

Hi Gary, good looking car. Hope to see it at Baker's this summer, we're in Brighton so we go quite a bit.

I'm alittle late, but welcome to the forum from a Chevelle guy on the other side!
Your Chevelle looks sweet! Bowtie smiley

I think that 69 would look better next to MY car in MY garage. I need to see some pics dude. The car that made me fall in love with Chevelles in the 70's belonged to the dad of some friends of mine. He bought it when he was 18 and it was a 69 SS 396.

Hey Bri,
Look forward to a meet with some of the Michigan members, hope there's an event big enough to get us all in one parking lot. Tht's a very nice ride you got.

Not a bad idea. That way too, if some of us makes plans to go, and someone else who lives closer hears that it is cancelled. They can post it and maybe save someone travel time.

We have been trying to figure out if we could do a Chevelleforum cruise. The thing is...where would we have it. That is a whole other thread.

JpMotorsports 02-16-2012 09:01 PM

More pics here http://s337.photobucket.com/albums/n371/jpm1476/

We could make my chevelle end up in your garage for the right price

Brian,
I just have to ask, is it hard to roll the car over to get those underneath shots like you did, and aren't you afraid of scratching the roof when you do that?:D

It's not hard at all Gary. I just stand on my head and take the pics. It's alot easier than putting the car on a lift. :D
