Car Fax access

Does anyone have access to Car Fax report that would like to run a VIN for me? I'm looking at a 2000 Audi S4 that I know that has a salvage title from a girl I work with, her brother is a engineer at GM and finds these higher end cars and repairs them in his spare time. I have talked to him and he said the air bags did not deploy and he replaced the bumper cover, hood, and right front fender as well as the struts on both sides. I drove the car and it drives nice and at 80 it has no shakes or vibration at all. I'm looking to get my daughter this for school to replace her 4x4 Dakota V8 that sucks the gas. The speedo says 89xxx and I'm looking to verify. Thanks

That last time that car had 89,000 miles was Nov.2004.

Thanks for the info Gary, something is not right so I'll be passing, it's hard to find a nice car for around 6K out there, I'm glad I don't need it quick.

Tell me about. These dealers are paying stupid money for the cheaper cars right now, makes for a fun day at the auction when I am running 20 of them.

In my book a 2000 model year vehicle is 12 years old.Age really doesn't matter on vehicles today as it did in the past.

I know. I watched tornado cars from Joplin go for "good condition" money and they were totaled. 'Makes me wonder what was going to get passed off as "clean, low mileage" cars a few months later.

I built a couple of them with minor damage. (mostly hail damage) but they still had reconstructed titles verified by the state troopers.

Ms Grumpy 04-13-2012 08:24 PM

That is cool that you were able to find out that info for Ric.

Well I'm pretty sure I'm not buying my 17 year old daughter a A8..ha She is really bumbed out that the A4 did not work out, but understands that with someone turning the miles back makes the car is real suspect. I got her thinking that the 2004 2005 Grand Prix is the car for her...so our hunt continues...still looking for a A4 as well. I found a 2002 Saab that looks good but she is not too wild about that one.

Some of you are wondering why I"m getting her such a nice car, she is a straight A student and got accepted to University Of Michigan for the fall semester and is going to commute since it is only 45 mins away for the first two years and that is saving us way more than the car will cost.

I wouldn't have wondered if you were buying your daughter a new Grandsport convt. It's what us dads do.

Id like to get her a newer car but don't want to pay the full coverage insurance, I've already got 5 cars with full coverage and full coverage for a teen are outrageous.

Especially here in Michigan. My 3 older kids didn't get their license til they were 18. I actually had to fight with my insurance company that my kids did not have a license at 16yrs old, and were not driving my vehicles.
