Looking for experienced info.

I have a 1965 Chevelle wagon that I want to do something with the engine it is an original 327 but some one has replaced the heads with the double hump heads. Probably one of the LS motors are out of my price range so thinking about late model 350 type engine. I want to go with a 5 speed of some sort and do not intend to race this car but cruise it on the highway. Has original numbers matching rear axle 12 bolt with 3:31 gear. I would like to do fuel injection and have Vin Air for this car. Doing away with all the original A/C that came with car and all its cables. Want to lower it 3" in front and back and looking in CPP at their disc brake system.

If you have directions or question I would like to chat with you on here.

Thanks Granddad Coker

How about GM's Ram Jet 350 crate motor?
GM warrantee, good Vortec heads, mild hyd roller cam, and 350 hp/400 tq. The CR is 9.4 so very pump gas friendly.
Plenty of fun for a wagon.

Grandad...Is there anything wrong with the 327? They are a pretty good engine. If not, think about a mild cam, a fresh valve job, a rebuild of the lower end and a decent carb. That will make a nice cruiser. For a 5 speed, I like the Richmond overdrive. It's all American made, good for 500 HP. I like the Centerforce 2 clutch set up to go with the Richmond.

Nothing wrong with 327 sounds fine before I took it out. I just did not care for the rear main seal. I like you guys hate oil leaks. The new engines seem to be leak free. But my budge may not let me go to newer engine. I"m not so concerned about high horse power but more for cruising. I always liked a manual trans and wanted the 5 speed for gas mileage.
When I figure out how to get some pics on here I will show you what I got. I need to compress the photo's to do so.

Looks like a great build. You can put up to 5 photo's in one post in the manage attachment section. You have 5 browse area you can put pictures in before you click on upload. Keep the pictures coming. Also you can put a one piece rear main in to stop that leak. There other opition now for the older motors. Also if you have any problems Nancy (Ms Grumpy) can walk you through how to post pictures.
