Anyone Like Shiney Tires?

Anyone here try a new product by Turtle wax called Tire black?
It comes in a spray can. If you like the look of shiney tires this is the sh#@t.
It's like putting a coat of clear on the tires. I'm not sure if I like it or not. I decided to buy some and try it on the Chevelle. The tires have a real glossy look to them that's for sure. It's suppose to last for weeks. I'm guessing that would be for a daily driver. As far as the Chevelle goes, this stuff could last me all summer (one application)!:D Here's a you tube demo:

I want some of that.

I guess my only thing on spray on tire shine is some of them have a "gook" that seems to stay on the tire. You will have to let us know how this stuff works. Sounds like it might be something that would save a lot of time. Where did you get it ?

I bought mine from Meijer $11.99, I've have seen it at Autozone, Advance Auto and Napa. My tires are really glossy. It looks like a clear coat. Once it's dry, there is no flinging of excess. I would recommend putting it on BEFORE you detail your car. I covered my rims using an air cleaner from a 90's chevy truck. I put a 5" bolt in the center for a handle. There are rim shields on the market now for this purpose. I did the air cleaner thing long before they came out. I should of marketed them. I'd be sitting good right now $$. :D

I want to try it on Joans Sport Trac on all that dull plastic trim ,Back To Black works good on it but does not last very long.

I think if Turtle wax came out with a satin or semi-gloss it would be a big seller.

Ms Grumpy 05-25-2012 09:25 PM

I would buy the semi gloss for my van.

I like the idea of using the air cleaner, good idea! Still not sure how shiny I want. I want to see it in person so may have to try it.

I'm not a fan of shiny tires. To me, it looks like I'm trying to sell it at a used car lot. I've seen lots of shiny, bald tires at the local lot and that's the first thing that pops in my head when I see them. ..."What are you trying to hide?"

So true, so true.

I've got nothing to hide. As a matter of fact the tires are new!
It's a matter of personal taste. Some people like the glossy look, and some don't. I saw this stuff and decided to try it. The nice thing about it is, it doesn't fling off like the other crap that's on the market. Like I said in a previous post,
if they offered this stuff in a satin or semi-gloss, I think it they will sell alot.

Now that is funny.

I wasn't trying to make it seem like YOU were hiding something. It's just what pops into my head after working at that used car dealer as a detailer when I was a teenager. I like a clean tire more than a coated one, but as you said, a satin finish might bring me around. Please don't think what I said was a personal attack. It wasn't designed to be.

Bowtie-Bri 05-28-2012 02:59 AM

It's all good Alan. No offence takin. ;) I submitted a review on Turtle wax's website telling them they should come out with a satin option. I don't know what good it will do, but you never know. :D

I just bought a can of this and I think it will work good on all the black plastic trim on Joan's Sport Trac ,not sure if I want to use it on the tire though.
