Detroit Tigers are going to the World Series.

Even though the game was "rain delayed" yesterday. The Tigers pulled it out and are on their way to the World Series !

I am not usually a huge Baseball fan, but this team has heart. Besides we need something positive out of the city of Detroit.

Yes and we swept the series with the great New York Yankees which is even better than the world series. Tonight score 8-1 Tigers

The owner is so old! I thought he was gonna collapse when he was up there. Just glad the yankees are out at this point.

Ya, Mike Ilitch was looking pretty rough. Too bad because he has been great for the city of Detroit and Detroit sports in particular. He also owns the Red Wings and turned them into the dynasty they are today.

A little Detroit sports trivia. Mike Ilitch, owner of Little Caesars Pizza always wanted to own the Tigers. When they became available years ago Tom Monaghan, owner of Dominos Pizza bought them before Ilitch could. So Ilitch turned his attentions to the Red Wings and finally purchased them. Pete Karmanos, owner of Compuware, was also interested in purchasing the Red Wings. The Greeks have always been big supporters of hockey, think the old Olympia stadium in Detroit.

Anyway Ilitch got the Red Wings and turned them around. Karmanos purchased the Carolina Hurricanes. Monaghan fumbled with the Tigers for a number of years and finally sold them to Ilitch who has turned them around too.

GO TIGERS!

love a die hard yankee fan!

no it was a good series the tigers played great (even if half the yankees showed up...lol)

My daughter Lacie lives just outside New York. I guess she was in a sports bar last night and was not popular at all. She was rooting for the Tigers, and the New York fans were not happy. But she said she had a blast doing it.

Good one Shaun.

Remember a few years ago the Tigers were close and they just fell apart. We are hoping that this is their year.

I know it's only game one but they look like they may of had too much time off.
I'm not a Tiger fan but I am American league all the way. (Red Sox) OK STOP LAUGHING
Lets go Tigers!!!!!

Ms Grumpy 10-24-2012 09:04 PM

I had listened to the game on the radio on my way home. Third inning and they were down 2 to nothing. I am afraid of all the time off too. But still rooting for the Tigers.

I've been a season ticket holder for the red sox for almost 10 years. Haven't decided if I want them again for next year but the wife said I had to. I'm selling them if they suck

Ms Grumpy 10-27-2012 08:02 PM

So tonight is game 3 in downtown Detroit. Go TIGERS !!! We need this win.

69chevelless 10-27-2012 08:20 PM

Hasn't been looking so great for the Tigers lately.

May not be too bad next year now that Valentine is gone.
When I used to live back east we would go up to NY and watch the sox play the Yankees a couple times each season. Never have been to Fenway.

Game three is in the books and it doesn't look good for the Tigers. I sure wish they would start hitting. If for no other reason just to make it a decent series to watch.

Ms Grumpy 10-28-2012 11:06 AM

I agree Rich. I hope that tonights game puts a "W" on the board for the Tigers. Not only because I would like to see the Tigers win, but to continue the series. It was not good that they had so much time off and they are paying for it now.
