In the 2nd picture of the truck, you can see the paint on the roof is a little ate up from the sun. Since I plan to sell it soon, I decided to repaint the roof...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...S/IMAG0348.jpg

I sanded it down, shot it with a good epoxy primer, then just used basic enamel with a little hardner in it. Looks MUCH better in my opinion. Hoping my time and efforts will help it sell better.

The truck looks good but you sure are Bad with all the teaser shots of the Monty ,Chevelle and the OTHER truck project you didnt even mention .We need many more pics of each especially that 67-72 project truck .Dont know if youve seen my ramblings on here about my 72 short fleet that is stuck in the bodyshop now for 19 months ,man I miss my truck . Glad to see Im not the only one with too many toys but they sure are fun. I really would like to see more of your project truck and the others as well.

carpoor 11-28-2012 05:50 PM

John, I will snap some pictures of the 67' truck tomorrow after work. It is in pieces now, finishing up all the rust repaint on the cab currently. And the frame is pretty much a rolling chassis. The bed and a few other parts are already painted.

The basic rundown on it... 67' cab and nose, 2000 LS1/4L60E, 2004 LQ4 intake manifold/PCM/DBW components, 78' T/A front sub frame and rear axle (10 bolt), custom box tube chassis, 95' step side bed, 17X8 Torque D's.

I could have sworn I have posted a picture of my Chevelle at least once... if not, here is the car before I pulled it apart to redo the chassis and drivetrain.

You have a very nice fleet of toys ,Im a fan of orange on anything especially a Monte Carlo ,cant go wrong with a black Chevelle either .Definitely keep us posted on the trucks progress .

carpoor 11-28-2012 06:49 PM

Must be the lighting... the Monte is actually code 75 Cranberry Red. My Chevelle is 1966 Danube Blue. I'll eventually get them both out in the sun and snap a better picture.

flash 11-28-2012 08:05 PM

After another look I can see the Chevelle is blue but the Monty still looks orange but my 72 Chevy truck is being painted medium red and it looks orange in pics so it may just be the way the computer shows it but I still like it.

carpoor 11-28-2012 08:19 PM

It could be yours, add it to your class of 72' collection. :D

grandsport 11-28-2012 10:35 PM

Very unusual to see black vehicles in Florida.

shadowgray396 11-28-2012 11:05 PM

Nice collection of toys, and there you go Flash another 72

flash 11-29-2012 11:25 AM

Im trying to learn the downsizing thing so not another one for me .I will just try to patiently wait on my 72 truck to come home someday and then downsize the 74 stepside .

Ms Grumpy 11-29-2012 07:49 PM

We need to see pictures of your all herd flash.

You know, not really uncommon here. Both of my 4th Gen Camaros and my 86' IROC were all black. The IROC and 2001 SS were bought new in FL. The 2000 Z28 was a lease turn in from NJ. I had a black 2000 S10 ZQ8 I bought new as well. My father said that it was uncommon up until the mid 70s for him to see a dark-colored car here when they were down to visit family. ::shrug::

Gm all the way 03-21-2013 06:18 PM

Are people still checking out this thread. If so I got some cars u guys would love truck and car.

flash 03-21-2013 08:33 PM

carpoor 04-18-2013 01:52 PM

Well... no more truck. I traded it for a Pontiac today. :D

flash 04-18-2013 08:11 PM

And the pics are where ,and its a Pontiac .............................?

carpoor 04-19-2013 01:39 PM

See my signature, I'll try to get some pictures up soon. It's nothing to look at, needs some cosmetic TLC. But, it's paid for, runs decent, and has cold AC.

Sounds like money well spent.

carpoor 04-20-2013 10:08 AM

I traded my 96' Silverado for it. Not sure what I am going to do with the car yet, may sell it. I'm going to drive it a few months and make a decision. It's hell not knowing exactly what you want or need.

carpoor 05-15-2013 07:57 PM

Looks like I am keeping the F bird. A friend of mine is swapping in a 420" LSX engine and sold me some of his parts for dirt cheap. (SLP 1.75" headers, y-pipe, SLP 2OTL cat back, Edelbrock TPI base manifold) I already have a rebuilt L98 350 from my old 91' Z28 Camaro. It has never been run, small Isky hyd roller, Crane springs/locks/retainers, etc, etc. Also have a set of SLP runners kicking around from the same car. I never got rid of my tuning stuff either, still have the lap top and cable. I am into the car cheap enough, might as well throw some parts on it and clean out the shop in the process.

It's throwing a few codes and running a little rough currently, ordered the needed parts tonight. I'll be tearing into it in a week or so to get it running good again. Eventually, I'll tear it down for the engine swap and a new paint job.

earthquake68 05-16-2013 09:40 AM

Well, at least you have a direction now. Keep us posted on the build. It sounds interesting.

carpoor 05-17-2013 06:02 PM

I scored an SLP cold air induction set up today. Basically that is my theme, back when this car was new - it could have had a package added, or the package could be ordered over the counter and installed buy the customer. I was 12 in 1991, so I missed out on a chance to own one when new. I am building sort of a replica... I now have all of the visual parts that you would see. My headers are the standard 4 into 1 vs. the tri y design, but those are damn near impossible to find. In my 17 years of dabbling with these cars, I have only owned two sets of those headers. (both sets were bought used)

My tune will be much better, the SLP "chip" was a joke. I've seen a few scans of what they changed, most people say they run faster with a stock chip and their base timing bumped. I'll also be doing some internal mods to the intake runners to make more power and give it more top end charge. I want it to look like it would have in 1991, but run much better. The SLP-equipped cars typically ran 13.9 - 14.1 in the 1/4. Pretty weak, my stock-ish and high mile 91' Z28 went 13.9 with very few "mods." (muffler, UD crank pulley, 52mm TB, free mods) I credit my tuning of the ECM and suspension for the performance of that car. (That same car went 13.30 traction limited with a cam, headers, small converter, and porting of the stock intake tract. It picked up only .6, but 8+ MPH) The SLP cars got: cold air induction, UD pulleys, TB air foil, performance "chip", tri Y headers, 2 OTL cat back exhaust.

I would love to have a set of the 17" Ronal wheels like the Firehawks had, but they are hard to come by. I have settled on a set of CCW Classics eventually.

carpoor 11-05-2014 08:11 PM

Obviously the firebird is long gone...

Here's what I am up to currently:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps4fcd8ac1.jpg

Swapping the 5.3L/4L60E in my truck for a 6.0L/4L80E :D

And two years later... lots of heartbreak, hard work, cash, and sweat. I took two trucks and made on good one. It's not perfect, but it's mine.

Hank70SS 10-15-2016 04:09 PM

Nice job, that truck looks really good.

carpoor 10-16-2016 01:18 PM

Thank you Hank, it's a good twenty footer.

shadowgray396 10-16-2016 05:39 PM

Looks good.

flash 10-16-2016 07:35 PM

I think it looks good .
