grandsport 04-15-2013 01:21 PM

Sounds like a Corvette.

flash 04-15-2013 03:42 PM

Nope ,not a Corvette .

Ms Grumpy 04-15-2013 07:45 PM

Chevy II ?

earthquake68 04-15-2013 08:14 PM

"Heavy duty 4 speed" ....I'm thinking '70's or '80's Chevy truck.

C'mon! It's after 8:00! What did you get??!!

BillsCamino 04-15-2013 09:20 PM

Cell phone tower service truck????
Damn, that lawyer is good. :D

flash 04-15-2013 09:42 PM

OK ,the new toy is now home ,its a 1972 C30 Chevy Truck ,dually with a gooseneck flatbed .This one is a rustfree truck ,runs and drives good all the way home and then the fuel filter stopped up 2 new filters ,looks like gummed up fuel .I plan to put an inline fuel filter in ,new fuel lines ,fuel pump ,I have another gas tank ,need a sending unit and then I think it will be good to go .Then my 74 Chevy Stepside will have to find a new home .

shadowgray396 04-15-2013 10:04 PM

Congrats Flash, send me a few pictures and I can post them for you.

flash 04-15-2013 10:22 PM

I've been looking for a work truck...may be interested in this. Let me know.

flash 04-16-2013 08:39 AM

Bill ,I will keep you in mind when its time .

DVSentinel 04-16-2013 09:02 AM

Sounds like a nice truck.

Also sounds like you ae in for dropping the tank and cleaning it all out. Did it sit for awhile? Or is this possibly a problem with ethonol gas breaking down? I've heard that you cannot store it more than 90 days, but haven't really looked into what it breaks down into or if the by-products of the decay would clog a system.

flash 04-16-2013 11:10 AM

It was running fine until I filled it up ,Im assuming the ethanol gas liqufied the sludge in the tank .Yes ,it had been sitting for a while .I have another tank to put in but Im going to try fuel filters for a while to see what happens .

Looks like a nice truck

flash 04-16-2013 08:27 PM

Thanks Ray for posting those for me ,its a pretty nice truck .It just needs a little TLC ,get the fuel system worked out ,clean and dye the carpet black and maybe even the seat ,add a stereo system ,paint the bed and drive the wheels off of it until I decide what to do with the bed .The bed is a little wider than it needs to be .

earthquake68 04-17-2013 07:26 AM

That's an odd bed on there. It looks like the frame is cut behind the back wheels, making me think it was a wrecker at one time.

DVSentinel 04-17-2013 09:45 AM

Nice, I like it.

Not a fan of that style gooseneck hitch, but guess it would not be hard to remove that one and place another that gives better base for the entire bed.

flash 04-17-2013 10:10 AM

It was bought new in Marietta Ga by a rental company ,I know nothing about the bed ,just that the truck pulled a really heavy looking goose neck trailer with a tractor on it .He tried to sell the truck and trailer as a package deal but I really could not see both as I can borrow a trailer if needed . The bed will eventually be modified a little later and the gooseneck hitch will probably go away.

Ms Grumpy 04-17-2013 01:21 PM

First off flash, love your modeling skills next to the truck. "I'm too sexy for my truck" . :)

Neat truck. So what did the Mrs. say when you told her that you wanted another toy ?

fleming23 04-17-2013 06:04 PM

Pretty cool John! You can tell that bed is wide!

flash 04-17-2013 06:39 PM

Ms Grumpy ,she just said get it . We were out heading to our garage sales saturday when we came up on this one ,I said to Joan ,you know I got to stop and look at it . I drove it and made an offer and the rest is history .

flash 04-17-2013 06:42 PM

I forgot to mention I went to the bodyshop today and forgot to look at the other 72 as I wanted the gas tank from it for this one .Darrel didnt like the idea of me stealing parts from that one for this one .I told him the other one wasnt going to notice it gone.

lol...yeah considering it is in slow motion putting it together.

flash 04-18-2013 08:40 AM

I still cant believe I forgot to look at it especially after Darrel told me the cab was close to being paint ready ,maybe Ive finally given up on it .I told him I had all kinds of new parts at home that I could use on the 1 ton and he said you aint getting nothing else off of this one .

flash 04-25-2013 11:34 AM

Joan and I were discussing the 72 1 ton last night and we were discussing what we were going to name it and she called it Grumpy ,because it dont like to start in the morning so it is now officially named Grumpy .I blew a tire monday on my way to get 6 new tires installed and had to get it hauled up there on a flatbed ,hopefully it wont make a habit of that .

flash 04-26-2013 10:23 PM

We drove up to Jasper today after work and picked up Grumpy and drove him home with no problems .

Ms Grumpy 04-27-2013 08:31 PM

David is going to be so thrilled that you named the truck after him.

I am loving this. :)

flash 04-28-2013 04:11 PM

I thought you might like that name ,it kind of suits the old truck .

Ms Grumpy 04-29-2013 05:23 PM

You will need to do some kind of graphic, maybe a sticker, with grumpy on it.
