Done with old cars.

Glad to be divorced from 3 black muscle cars, and can't ever see myself or Maureen ever wanting one again.Thats all.Waving

BillsCamino 05-08-2013 08:30 PM

I hate that you've come out of this with bad feelings but I do understand Gary.
Still...you need to remain in these forums...stay and hang out with us!!!
Friends first...the cars are only an excuse to be here.

flash 05-08-2013 08:42 PM

I can see myself getting out of the old cars one day but never giving up on my friends and the forums I belong to. NO ,I could never give up on my old cars .

shadowgray396 05-08-2013 10:33 PM

I will always love the older cars, but will not own one forever. Everyone moves on sooner or later.

earthquake68 05-08-2013 11:05 PM

I can honestly say I can't ever see myself without an old car. Everybody's different, though. That's what makes this world so interesting. Please stay and chat.

Bowtie-Bri 05-09-2013 12:14 AM

Hey Gary,
I know what your talking about. I've been tinkering with old cars since I was 15yrs young. I've had the passion for the old muscle for alooong time, in fact I still love em, but I don't have the same passion I used to have. That's why I sold my Chevelle. I'll be picking up my replacement at the end of the week. I'll start a thread with some pics of my new baby when I get it, so stay tuned! Waving
Hang out for a while Gary

I'll be buried in mine, as that is where all of my retirement money goes to:D

To each his own and that is what freedom is all about.

I totally agree with the above statement.

I never knew the friendships that I would make being here. I have made lifelong friendships and Gary you are one of them. Just because your passion for your car has changed from one to another, doesn't mean that we don't want to hear about it. We still want to know how Lindsay is doing, we still want to know about what you and Maureen are doing. You are part of this family and always will be.

Hank70SS 05-09-2013 06:56 PM

Gary, you sound bitter over owning your muscle cars. I'm sorry for that, don't know why you feel that way but I'm sorry. I hope you know that muscle car or not you have friends here and we don't want you to leave. Nobody here liked you because you had a Chevelle, we just like Gary.

X2 on that, well said.

I miss our Old Gary ,his sense of humor that so many didnt get .

hkalin 05-10-2013 09:20 AM

Yeah, I said the same thing about ten years ago when I sold my 69 Camaro which was the only car I owned 15 years. Went the new route 03 Mustang GT, 05 Mustang GT, and then a 09 Challenger R/T. Don't get me wrong they were all nice cars especially the Challenger but I still longed for the old iron. Last year I bought my 71 "Plain Jane Malibu" with a big block, 4 speed, and 12bolt rear. Nothing about this cars drive train is # matching and that's what makes the car even more fun. The one thing about the old cars is that you can really mod them and be different from the others while the new stuff just all seems the same no matter what you do to them.

grandsport 05-10-2013 07:35 PM

Lol.Wrong message I guess.Never said I was leaving here. You guys are my buds!Waving And yes mr Flash too many people don't get my sense of humor.

Ms Grumpy 05-11-2013 05:12 AM

We get you Gary ! And can't wait for more of your humor. :)

Garyb 05-19-2013 08:14 AM

Part of owning and enjoying these cars is working on them. I got the feeling you didn't care to much to work on them so i think you're better off.

flash 05-19-2013 09:01 AM

I've gotten to the point in my life where it is getting harder to work on my old cars as lately my back is killing me and the chiropractor cant seem to help me much .By the time I work all day I dont feel like playing with the cars like I used to but Im not getting rid of them .Im hoping after next weekend I can slow down a little and Play with the cars some ,Im laying 800 ft of water line starting friday and hope to be done by saturday .I have been digging holes all over my yard locating utilities so hopefully I dont rip anything out .If things go as planned and the weather cooperates I plan to take the 72 convertible out next sunday cruising .

FlintTony 05-19-2013 06:13 PM

Holy cow John! 800 feet of water line? Man, that is going to be a job. How deep and what material?

flash 05-20-2013 08:35 AM

Im going to use 1" pvc with 2 short runs of 3/4" ,I dread it ,my place grows rocks something aweful. I plan on about 18" deep .

Ms Grumpy 05-20-2013 06:50 PM

You know flash, by brother Eric works out of his garage and is always looking to make a few bucks. If you need help, he might be a handy man to call, only problem is that he is about, what, 900 miles from you. lol I know if you were closer, he would definately be there to help.

flash 05-20-2013 08:35 PM

I have help lined up for saturday but I hope to have most of it done on friday ,Im going to be at Home Depot at 7 AM friday morning to rent a trencher and get started soon after .

So is PVC pipe legal in your area for drinking water? We can use the flexable plastic pipe that comes in a roll that is marked safe for drinking water use, but not PVC.

CPVC is okay for hot/cold water supply, that's the off white/yellow stuff. PVC for drains and cold water supply but not hot. I'm sure Tony would know better and codes may be different in different areas.

FlintTony 05-21-2013 06:38 AM

PVC is used for DWV systems (drain, waste, vent). Like Hank says, CPVC is for domestic water supply.

Good luck on the project John. I know that is going to be a big job.

flash 05-21-2013 08:46 AM

White PVC is legal here ,CPVC for hot ,but you can really use whatever you want as there is no inspection .I chose PVC because its easy to repair if needed .

Ms Grumpy 05-21-2013 08:14 PM

John, you just make sure you don't over do it. I hope you have some help.

flash 05-21-2013 08:42 PM

One of my nephews has decided to take a vacation day on friday so I have help now .That should make it much better for me .
