Craptastic day!

Freak accident at work today, started to climb my ladder... proceeded to tear ligaments in my upper arm. Went to an urgent care center, referred to an orthopedic surgeon. :( Looks like I am going under the knife next week. FML

That sux ,hope the surgery goes well and the recoup time speedy .

Mike 1972SS 07-19-2013 08:22 PM

Hank70SS 07-20-2013 07:15 AM

Bummer, rotator cuff? Good luck.

earthquake68 07-20-2013 10:14 AM

Wow! That IS a bad day. Good luck with the surgery and a speedy recovery.

Nope, tendons that connect the bicep muscle to the bone near the elbow. My right bicep is kinda of distorted looking right now.

SS Shaun 07-20-2013 02:01 PM

o man that really does suck!! hope everything comes out ok

Hank70SS 07-20-2013 02:11 PM

Probably looks like my left one. I fell from a ladder a couple years ago, fractured my pelvis, partial tear of the rotator cuff and partial tear of a bicep tendon. Thought everything was fine now, moved some lumber and bags of cement a couple weeks ago and something gave out in my left bicep. It doesn't really hurt, a little sore but it doesn't look right.

Ms Grumpy 07-20-2013 08:33 PM

Man, we all are falling apart. I hope everything goes well with your surgery.

carpoor 07-27-2013 04:16 PM

Just an update, had a follow up doctors appointment on Thursday. Still no MRI, etc. I am going nuts being stuck at home and limited as to what I can do. I am going to see if anything develops Monday. If not, Tuesday I am going to go apes**t on some people. It has been eight days since this injury happened. Damn good thing I didn't break a leg!

FlintTony 07-27-2013 05:23 PM

Eight days? Man, they are slow down there, huh? What part of Florida are you in?

carpoor 07-27-2013 07:58 PM

Volusia County, Debary more specifically.

Ms Grumpy 07-27-2013 08:46 PM

Hope you get this resolved soon. It sucks being unable to do anything.

carpoor 07-27-2013 09:47 PM

Me too. On another note, how is Lauren doing with her recovery?

I'm in the process of getting a building put up in Citrus County, town of Dunnellon. On the Withlacootchie river. Hope to get down there this fall.

Since that is the river that they film Ax Men will we see you on the river diving for logs? You could build a pontoon with a 427 in it I'd pay to see that.

shadowgray396 07-28-2013 09:31 AM

Hope you get better soon also. I have notice unless you are dying it's getting harder to get a doctor appointment in a timely manner any more.

carpoor 07-28-2013 11:32 AM

Welcome to socialized medicine... brought to you by our crooked government.

Hmmm, food for thought.

And it isn't going to get any better soon. My heart doctor, along with most of his co-workers, is going to retire over this joke of a new Gov run AHCA.

carpoor 07-28-2013 05:43 PM

That's the same thing my mother has heard from most of the doctors she works with.

Lauren is done with her physical therapy. When she went in for her final visit they did an evaluation and it was determined that she is still not able to totally straighten her leg. She is +9 (0 is straight), so it was suggested that she get a brace that she wears at night. The doctor wrote a script for it and we waited for the insurance company to see if they will cover it. Nope, they won't cover the cost. So David and I will have to pay $300 a month to rent this machine. Right now we are waiting on the rep. to get back to us.

In the meantime, a couple days ago Lauren slipped on the bathroom floor and fell. Of course now she is walking with even more of a limp. Come on...really... After we get back from the NOCC show next weekend she has a doctors appointment. Does this never end ?????

I think we are all falling apart .

Yeah, but we have an excuse. She is only 15.

Thank you, leaving the house in about two hours to head over there. So ready for this to be over with.

Good luck ,let us know how it goes .

I hope that you have good news for us.

carpoor 07-30-2013 09:33 PM

Has anyone here ever had an MRI? Not a pleasant experience. Took about 25 minutes, and was excruciatingly loud! I am not a fan of tight spaces either. Now the chase is on to get my case worker to schedule an appointment for me with an orthopedic surgeon.

carpoor 07-31-2013 05:37 AM

Just saw a graph comparing wait times here in the US vs. Canada... average wait time for an ortho proceedure = 16.8 days. (Canada was 119.7 days)

So based on that, 4.8 days to go after today.

Hank70SS 07-31-2013 06:55 AM

I had an MRI on my shoulder and bicep tendons. It is loud, I just closed my eyes and waited for it to be over.

lol That's exactly what I did. I am by no means a "big" guy, and it was a tight squeeze.

Hank70SS 07-31-2013 07:44 AM

Glad you got that step over with. Hope you get in to see a surgeon soon.

carpoor 07-31-2013 05:17 PM

Just got a phone call, MRI results show tears. (Imagine that) Now, hoping I can get an appointment ASAP.

With a little luck, would the tear mend itself? Sure would be nice not to have to get it operated on. Good luck.

carpoor 07-31-2013 06:30 PM

Maybe, but my bicep is partially "rolled up" in my arm. I am not excited about having surgery, but I want it fixed right. I don't want it to be half assed.

Hank70SS 07-31-2013 07:41 PM

Some of us here have done 'body' work before. I'm sure with a little grinding and filler we could make it look good as new. J/K, good luck.

carpoor 08-02-2013 08:10 AM

I am not getting a good vibe from my employer. It feels like I am being called a liar or accused of something every time I speak to them. It's sad how expendable we are these days.
