The 2013 "Cold/flu"

I don't know if any of you have gotten the cold that is going around, well my household has. It started with the kids coming home the 1st week of school with the sniffles (that was the 1st week in Sept). Of course all the kids had some form of the cold, and as soon as they were done with it David got it. He has spent the last 8 days pretty much in bed.

David is now on day #9 of this cold and he is still run down and has a nasty cough. So of course it is now my turn. It started last Thursday, just felt a little run down, Friday the aches started, Saturday the sore throat. Then I had my grand daughter on Sunday and I took her to the movies 1st thing in the morning, and that was it for me. I came home and could barely keep my eyes open.

The cough is more like a "Croup" type cough, and it is horrible. I still feel like crap even though I have been filling my body with vitamins and healthy food, I still can't seem to shake this thing. I hope that no one gets this thing cause it is aweful !!!

Yep ,I had it a little while back ,just have really gotten over it. I had it about 6 weeks ,but I kept getting a relapse of the creeping crud .That is just my name for it ,everyone said I just had a summer cold but I just could not shake it. My biggest problem I think was I was working outside in the heat and sweating like crazy until I was soaked and then would have to go inside where the A/C was freezing cold and then back out in the heat . I coughed ,sore throat ,no voice part of the time and no energy .I worked everyday and came home and slept ,could not get enough sleep and that is very unusual for me as I have cronic insomnia and have to take meds on a normal night to sleep at all. I hope ya'll dont have the extended version like I did ,I was miserable.

Ms Grumpy 10-02-2013 06:54 PM

flash, we have exactly what you had. I just wonder who traveled all the way from Georgia to Michigan to give it to us. Who ever it was needs to be tar and feathered.

Eric 10-02-2013 07:02 PM

Nancy, hope you get over it verry soon... And don't get me sick. lol .

shadowgray396 10-02-2013 08:03 PM

So far no one I know around here is sick yet. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Ms Grumpy 10-03-2013 07:36 PM

Today was the first day that I felt good enough to go and actually do something. Only took a week. I just felt bad because this cough sound aweful. I think I even scared some small children today.

flash 10-03-2013 08:26 PM

mestorod70 10-04-2013 09:07 AM

Toocool 10-10-2013 01:35 PM

I had it for 3 weeks, I still have a minor sore throat. I cant seem to shake it, I'll feel better for a day or two but it keeps coming back.
I went to the doctor 2 weeks ago, he called it the crud.

flash 10-10-2013 01:38 PM

Hi Ron ,hope you get better soon .

I will agree with that. This cough is horrible. With Halloween coming up it is perfect bacause mine is so terrible that I scare small children. Like everyone else I have to just ride it out. It is just terrible because I wake myself up coughing.

flash 10-11-2013 07:43 PM

Ya'll get well soon ,that CRUD SUCKS .

Ms Grumpy 10-14-2013 07:55 PM

Still dealing with the "Crud". It sucks !!!

flash 10-14-2013 08:39 PM

I hope you get over it soon .

I got it now, but my daughter has it worse. She refuses to blow her nose because she thinks it's gross. Well, now she has a stomach bug too. ...imagine that. I have a pretty strong immune system so it's not very bad with me. I have a slight dry cough every now and again and I'm congested. Other than that, I feel ok. My daughter is down for the count because she won't take care of herself.

Vitamin C, D, and B complex. After that, PLENTY of water.

John. You did time in the military, didn't you? I never heard a civilian call it "creeping crud". :D

flash 10-15-2013 08:43 AM

No military time for me ,I just named it that because it took the wind out of my sail and took so long to get over it .

Ms Grumpy 10-15-2013 06:48 PM

What I can't understand about this dang "Crud" is....

How come I can feel good, and then all of a sudden I will start coughing, and coughing, and coughing. And then it can be a long time until it starts again. Just frustrating.

shadowgray396 10-15-2013 07:55 PM

Hope you get to feeling better soon. Seems like for me everytime I got a flu shot I get really bad colds or the crude. I haven't had a flu shot in the last 5 years and haven't been sick the for a long time in the winters.

BillsCamino 10-15-2013 08:58 PM

My wife came down with this crap yesterday.
And on Thursday we leave for Miami on a 10 day vacation including a week long Caribbean cruise. :(
Doc put her on heavy anti-bionics today.

flash 10-16-2013 08:47 AM

Bill ,tell Ann I hope she gets over it quickly ,lots of fluids and rest will help .

BillsCamino 10-16-2013 12:56 PM

I'll tell her you said that John...plenty of martinis and then sleep it off. ;)

flash 10-16-2013 01:43 PM

That would probably help a lot .

Ms Grumpy 10-16-2013 08:41 PM

Lots of vitamins, juices and fluids. I hope she feels better soon.

BillsCamino 10-18-2013 09:00 AM

While those of us here have to consider turning the heat on in our houses. It is only supposed to be 52 here tomorrow.

BillsCamino 10-19-2013 07:54 AM
