Finally, low gas prices in Brighton

We've lived here for 12 years, gas prices have always been higher here than surrounding cities. I never bought gas here when working, always got it on the way to or from work. Well Kroger opened a gas station here. Today their price is $3.11, $3.08 if you have a Kroger card and all the other stations are matching the $3.11 price. We shop at Kroger's so you earn points on what you spend. Last Friday I filled up the motorhome, used 300 points which is $.30 off a gallon, up to 35 gallons. Even with no points if you have a Kroger card you get the $.03 off the posted price.

About damn time, drive 10 miles and gas was always 10 to 15 cents less. Not worth driving to get the lower price and now we don't have to

RBeckman 10-28-2013 06:09 PM

I paid $3.06 at the speedway at GM road and Milford rd this morning....was shocked.

BillsCamino 10-28-2013 06:15 PM

Kroger runs the same promotion here in GA...usually cheaper or as cheap as stations in same vicinity. We usually get most of our fuel points by refilling prescriptions.
Reminds me...got 300 points to use by Thursday...

SS Shaun 10-28-2013 06:40 PM

lol i paid 2.97 today if that makes you feel better :)

carpoor 10-28-2013 07:35 PM

$3.10 a gallon in Orlando, $3.17 here in town. I fill up once a week while out there for physical therapy. Damn tourist state, we get punished with extra taxes.

Average around here is $3.24 this week
Was as low as $3.11 about 2 1/2 weeks ago...I think as a dense population, frequently poor air quality area, we're now running their so called "Winter mix".

Gas here is finally under $3.00 gal. Not by much tho, $2.99/9, LOL. Used my loyalty points card as they call them locally and had 25 cents off. Filled the tank at $2.74/9 and thought "what a deal". 'Course, I'm old enough to recall buying regualr leaded at .16/9 during a "gas war" in the 60's. Some youngsters may not really know what a "gas war" is, LOL.

shadowgray396 10-28-2013 09:53 PM

$3.19 around here today

Bowtie-Bri 10-28-2013 11:22 PM

It's 3.27 per gal. here on the westside of Michigan. I think WE have the highest prices in Mi. Glad to see ya'll getting the lower prices, hopefully they will come our way soooooooon!

RBeckman 10-29-2013 07:33 AM

That corner has always had prices a lot lower than Brighton. Wonder if it's because of the Kroger fuel station a few miles away.

Gas around my neck of the woods is around $3.16 - $3.18 We shop at kroger all the time and use the fuel points to save on gas and another way to rack up the fuel points real quick is to buy the gift cards there. If we are working on a project we'll buy lowes gift cards or places we eat at regularly. We've had enough fuel points to get a $1.00 off up to 35 Gallons of fuel.

Ms Grumpy 10-29-2013 08:40 PM

I was going to say the same thing about the gift cards. If you go to Taco Bell, McDonalds, or other restaurants regularly, buy a gift card at Kroger. You get double the points on gift cards, except Kroger cards, and they add up. Sometimes they do 4x's the points on gift cards, especially close to holidays. If we are going to Sears, K-Mart, Lowes, Target, Amazon, and many other places, we buy gift cards. Especially if you buy things on-line, it helps to prevent anyone access to your banking account. They even sell Paypal and Ebay gift cards. Last year, in December we had over 4,000 points with all the gift cards. I gave my brother access so that he could fill up his big vehicle and save $1.00 a gallon.

Can you tell, I use the Kroger gas stations alot. lol

Bowtie-Bri 10-29-2013 11:43 PM

Just got out of work tonight and noticed gas went up to $3.45 per gal. :(

carpoor 10-30-2013 08:14 AM

I think a hump day camel farted somewhere in the middle east. Prices here shot up to over $3.40 a gallon overnight. I guess a breeze must have dissipated the odor, now it's back down to $3.19?

Ken Hayes 11-08-2013 02:41 PM

Filled the car up today before I took it to the storage building.....$3.54 gal for 93 Octane. Wont have to do that again untill end of March.

carpoor 11-08-2013 05:32 PM

Filled up in Orlando today after PT, $3.039 for regular. It's still more than double what it should be.
