Flash's truck

I received an e-mail with some pictures that Joan had sent me. I am sure that John is probably on the road right now enjoying his new toy.

Wow, that looks goooood!!

Ms Grumpy 04-03-2014 06:20 PM

I like the color and I like the dash. No wonder John and Joan are cruising their evenings away.

shadowgray396 04-03-2014 08:40 PM

Looks very nice

RBeckman 04-03-2014 08:48 PM

Very cool and if I lived down south I would have something like that as my daily driver.

flash 04-03-2014 09:06 PM

Thanks everyone ,we are driving the wheels off of it and enjoying every minute of it .

carpoor 04-04-2014 05:54 AM

Looks great John. Hopefully I can figure out my father's truck soon. He is itching to drive his as well.

Quadracer392 04-04-2014 08:05 AM

John, the truck looks amazing! Glad your finally able to enjoy it.

Ms Grumpy 04-04-2014 07:27 PM

So how does it ride John ?

flash 04-04-2014 08:30 PM

It rides great ,we took a vacation day today and enjoyed it most of the day ,just got home from a cruise in .

What happened to the 100% chance of rain yesterday??? Never saw a drop...y'all had a great day/night for cruisin' with the new wheels.
Pics look great John...nice job!!

flash 04-05-2014 12:29 PM

Yes ,the rain fizzled out before it got here but it sure did get cold .

flash 07-24-2014 08:00 PM

Anyone want to buy a truck ,I think the damn thing is possessed .

shadowgray396 07-24-2014 08:46 PM

Now what happen Flash?

flash 07-24-2014 08:59 PM

The A/C belt flew off ,the pulleys are wobbling and the water pump is leaking ,everything on this truck is new. I drove it about 3 miles to drop off a fan blade to be powder coated and when I got there I saw antifreeze pouring out under it .Opened the hood and cranked it up and antifreeze pouring out the weep hole .I about ready to give up .

Ms Grumpy 07-24-2014 09:24 PM

Don't give up John. That is how I was feeling when I finally had my car done, remember. I had so many problems but now I am so happy with it. Just take a deep breath and walk away for a few days and you will feel better.

BillsCamino 07-25-2014 06:51 AM

Sounds like another new water pump is needed. Bearing probably went bad on that one...causing the shaft & pulley to wobble...tossing the belt.
Were the belts too tight or fan out of balance??

shadowgray396 07-25-2014 07:56 AM

Or the alignment on the belts may be off adding side pressure. Make sure everything is in a straight line.

flash 07-25-2014 08:45 AM

Everything seemed to be lined up nice and straight and the belts were not overtight . It is out of commission for a while ,at least til I get back from Ohio.

BillsCamino 07-25-2014 01:40 PM

If you can get it over here I'd be glad to take a look at it John. Maybe after you return from OH...I'll be in Baton Rouge next weekend anyhow.
You going to Jasper tomorrow night??

flash 07-25-2014 01:53 PM

We hope to be in Jasper tomorrow night .

Ms Grumpy 07-25-2014 06:42 PM

You will be in Ohio next weekend...right.

flash 07-25-2014 08:34 PM

Not sure ,are we supposed to be ?

Ms Grumpy 07-26-2014 08:01 PM

Oh you are such a smart ash. That's why I look forward to seeing you.

flash 07-26-2014 10:46 PM

I filled the vert up with gas after the cruise in tonight ,still need to clean it and get it packed for the trip .We are going to head toward Ohio right after work on wednesday and drive til we get tired and find a place to stay but plan to be there early thursday. We have got to get the toys ready to go.

See you there .

flash 08-16-2014 08:59 AM

I cant believe Nancy called me a smartass ,all this time I thought I was a dumbass . I drove the truck to work today ,got the water pump replaced after the Ohio Show ,still not cooling as I had hoped but still better and no green fluid escaping .

flash 08-30-2014 09:48 PM

We were finally able to drive the truck up to Hayesville ,North Carolina today to let the previous owner have a look at the truck after restoration as I had promised him I would .He was very happy to see how it turned out and was glad that it went to a good home .It was a great day to drive a classic Chevy truck .

flash 09-28-2014 04:06 PM

We have been driving the wheels off the old truck lately ,going to the last few cruise ins here .One of our favorites may not have a location next year as the local merchants association does not want us there any longer .

flash 01-30-2015 08:38 PM

I drove the truck to work yesterday ,its been to dang cold most mornings lately to drive it ,no heat with the Vintage Air ,Im going to try another thermostat and see if it helps .

carpoor 01-31-2015 09:11 AM

Maybe air in the system?

shadowgray396 02-01-2015 11:28 AM

Nancy called you a smart ASH, lol

On mine, it has an electronic water valve and must be installed a particular way for it to work. Have you checked this? As I recall, you have to program the system by jumpering a white wire to a ground which then caused all the actuators and motors to self-learn. Just a thought because the Chevelle only runs 155-160 degrees down the road in this cold weather but still blows nice and warm through the vent. I can't imagine the thermostat would have you running so cold that you get no heat, but I suppose it is a cheap part to swap out and see.

flash 02-06-2015 09:26 AM

I changed the thermostat and still very little heat ,both heater hoses are plenty hot so water is getting past the valve .I need to look online for a set of instructions as they were left at the shop when they installed it .And unfortunately Neil left the bodyshop and he installed it .

Thanks Bill ,that will help a lot .

Ms Grumpy 02-10-2015 08:03 AM

I love these old cars/trucks but they are always a work in progress. Even when you think that you are done there is always something else to do. lol

I hope you have been able to find the problem flash.

flash 02-10-2015 08:37 AM

I have not felt up to doing anything yet .

Ms Grumpy 02-11-2015 05:44 PM

I hope you feel better soon flash..

flash 02-11-2015 06:34 PM

Thanks ,I have been fighting this crud off and on since Thanksgiving ,felt the best today than in a long time .

FlintTony 02-12-2015 04:48 AM
