83 GMC Ramp Truck - 454/TH400

I'm not actively pushing the sale but I have my 83 GMC ramp truck listed if anyone knows of someone interested. I just drove it yesterday to go pick up my father-in-law's brother's car without issue.

That seems like such a better deal than dragging around a trailer. What kind of mileage does something like that get?

That was precisely why I purchased it!

I honestly don't know mpg and/or don't remember if I have ever tried to calculate it. When I am on the way to the track, I am usually booking down the interstate at 70-80 mph and the turbo 400/big block combo is definitely drinking fuel at those speeds. I would guesstimate 8-10 but my driving along with the untuned carb certainly don't help.

Eric,
Any idea what it would take to get the A/C working again??
Not sure why...but interested...;)

Lol!

It has the evaporator and suitcase on the firewall so my assumption is that a compressor and lines just need to be ran. I cannot recall if the condenser is still in place or not. I know I looked because I was going to get it going but never got around to it. I seem to recall seeing a disconnected line near the firewall which leads me to believe it is still there. Simple enough to check and see, I just don't park it at my house.

So possibly a condenser.
Definitely a new dryer
Line sets
Compressor and big block mounting brackets
Some sort of POA.

Honestly, most of what it needs I just pulled off the Chevelle.... I assume it wouldn't take much and honestly if I used it more than I did in a year I would have already fixed it. I had all the parts at one point to include brackets and a compressor I pulled off the car when upgrading.

I will cut someone a deal if they put me in contact with a buyer (really vice versa.) The more I think about the the more I really want to sell this and buy a 4wd pick-up as my spare truck.

Eric ,it would probably pay you to join 67-72chevytrucks and pay the $20 fee to be able to sell on there ,it would probably go quickly.

Price update - trying to unload this thing and pick up a Z71 Tahoe or Silverado to use around the house.

If I had something else to drive I'd consider trading you trucks. I'd like have that ramp truck

Yeah, that is a good looking Silverado. I have found a number that meet my requirements but I just don't want to buy one until I know for sure the ramp truck has a new home.

Thanks, is your lower price the price that the craigslist listing is for? $5200?

Correct. Now lower than I paid, not that it makes a difference but I'm loosing money on the deal at this point. I kinda thought I was going to just hold onto it. I'm not sure I will go any lower.

I think that's more than a fair price, especially the condition and the work you've done to it. I'll keep it mind if I run into someone looking for a car hauler.

BillsCamino 08-09-2014 06:44 AM

Wow Eric...I figured this truck would have sold long ago.
I'm like you...would love to own it but really have no need for it. Like my truck & trailer, I'd be loaning it out more than using it myself.

And I've still got that Q-jet if you think you can use it...

Yeah, if I still have the truck I'll get it from you when I bring all hue AC stuff to take to Florida, if that still happens.

Eric ,did you find a new home for this rig yet ?

fleming23 08-16-2014 09:23 AM

No sir, not yet. Wish I could though! Today we are going to look at a new house. If we move, owning an actual pickup will be super valuable. I hate borrowing a family member's truck all the time.

flash 08-16-2014 09:24 AM

Good luck on the new house ,keep us posted .

fleming23 08-20-2014 08:34 AM

Sold it last night!

BillsCamino 08-20-2014 09:28 AM

Congrats.

I was honestly a little surprised of the lack of interest. I knew once the right person found it, they would want it. I probably should have taken it to the drag strip a few times but that consumes too much of a weekend. Anyway, now to begin looking for a pick-em-up truck.

flash 08-20-2014 11:08 AM

Congrats on the sale ,Im very surprised it took so long as it is a nice old truck.

shadowgray396 08-20-2014 08:08 PM

Congrats on your sale
