Find a good auction in the south.

flash 10-27-2014 01:47 PM

Im just planning on a good cleaning ,wax and detail and then drive it some more .I do need to get it to the transmission shop for the right speedometer gear in the 700R so The speed registers right.

Quadracer392 10-27-2014 02:07 PM

I'm hoping to get mine finished this winter in time to be able to drive it in the spring.

BillsCamino 10-27-2014 02:44 PM

Engine transplant. This stock small block just ain't doing it for me!! :(

carpoor 10-27-2014 04:07 PM

Ms Grumpy 10-27-2014 09:59 PM

Looking to find a good deal on an electric fuel pump. Looks like come spring when I get it out of storage I will need to replace it. :(

shadowgray396 10-27-2014 10:14 PM

Dash work, fix gauges that stop working??????
Looking for an original dash bezel to restore.
Motor oil leak
Might also put in a new wiring harness and fuse box while I have it apart again.

flash 10-28-2014 06:19 AM

Im going to try getting my El Camino's heater going by replacing the hoses and putting some stop leak in the heater core ,dont want to tackle replacement and nobody else does either .

Ms Grumpy 10-28-2014 06:04 PM

So if you got the El Camino running would you take that to the NOCC show ? Or would the vert get jealous ?

flash 10-28-2014 06:48 PM

We used to take the Elky to the Ohio show before we had the vert but you never know . The Elky is pretty much our winter cruiser which is why I want the heat fixed. I actually replaced the heater hoses today after work and poured the stop leak into the heater core thru one of the hoses and then hooked everything up .So far it is not leaking with it running at idle for 30 minutes with the pressure of the cap. Im going to be driving it a bit to see how it does longterm.

Not quite the direction I had originally planned or even imagined but I bought a complete LQ4 (iron block w/aluminum heads) 6.0L engine out of a Silverado HD with 75K miles on it this morning.
So...Looks like the Sprint will be getting some 21st century updates this winter.

flash 10-30-2014 06:53 PM

Cant wait to see this one .

That'll be an awesome upgrade. Are you planning on keeping the Fuel Injection or gonna run Carb? Which transmission are you going to use?

Not sure yet on if it'll be carbed or FI.
The 6.0L comes complete including the harness & ECM but I also already have on hand an MSD LS 6010 ignition box and Edelbrock intake.
With the original 12 bolt rearend having only a 2.73 gear...I'll be reusing the console shifted TH350 presently in the car. Simply will need to space out the LQ4 flexplate using one of many available kits.

SS Shaun 10-31-2014 10:27 AM

I love the LS motors and i have had an LS motor for at least 7 years now. But as of late i am starting to like the BBC over it..lol I had an lq9 i was going to put in my chevelle with a carb setup but i went big block. i currently have an lq4 in my rx7 with no issues and running pretty powerful good luck with the swap. o btw before you try to fire up your 6.0 you have the have the VATS turned off or it will just die on you learned it from experience :)

carpoor 11-01-2014 07:12 AM

OK, I do have some small plans now that I have thought about it. I am going to pick up a trunk pan and try to find a flat hood for the 69'. My best shot for both should be at the big car show/swap meet in Daytona next month.

paulywood 11-01-2014 10:53 AM

I was originally planning on putting the car in storage since right now it's in my wife's spot in the garage. Now I'm hoping to get "my" side cleaned out so I can keep it and work on it. Between starting our new house last week and the baby girl coming in 12 days I haven't had enough time to work on it. Got the new rear brake lines this week so I'm hoping to get the brakes working by next weekend. We'll see.

Ms Grumpy 11-01-2014 05:25 PM

Looks like I will be looking for a replacement vehicle for out 2000 Astro Van. I am bummed because that van has been great. It got close to 20mph on the e-way, it sat 8 comfortably, we could take out the back seat and get 8 BMX bikes in it, and it was AWD and went thru almost anything. So we are looking for a used vehicle. Man the prices are crazy but we will find something wether it is another van, SUV or truck we will find it.

shadowgray396 11-01-2014 09:05 PM

Good luck on your search. Hope you find something that works for you.

RBeckman 11-02-2014 07:58 AM

Waiting for Tony to finish his Florida home so we can stay with him and get out of this cold crap....but he seems to be taking his time, but I'm sure my room will be perfect.

Ms Grumpy 11-02-2014 06:37 PM

Well it looks like we will be cleaning up some BMX bikes this winter. David and Jacob just picked up some bikes to help a friend sell. Good thing that the car is in storage or I would be sitting on a bike to watch TV in the living room. lol

hkalin 11-05-2014 11:37 AM

Thanks. it's been along time coming but I'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Less parts laying around more back on the car now. :D

Great power even before they changed the cam & springs.

Ken Hayes 11-06-2014 11:13 AM

Did the same thing on my phone Ken. No idea why.

Ms Grumpy 11-17-2014 05:59 AM

Don't know why pics are not coming thru. Are you still having problems?

flash 11-17-2014 06:22 AM

Well it looks like a good time to put fresh anti freeze in the El Camino as it is about to get cold .
