Have a suggestion ?

Then this is the forum for posting it in.

grumpy 12-29-2009 08:13 AM

With a few more members finding us I thought id ask for your comments, questions or suggestions on the site. Thanks

Grumpy

A place for El Camino owners would be nice.....

Hank70SS 12-29-2009 11:38 AM

I don't know what Grumpy's thoughts are but right now you may be the only member with an El Camino. I'd hate to see you sitting in an El Camino/Sprint forum all by yourself. When the membership grows and there's enough interest in specific areas I'm sure new forums will be added. Anyway, just my thoughts on it.

I agree 100%. Someday.....:)

Another thing to keep in mind for the future would be to increase the size of the signature area. A lot of members on other sites put in the cars they own, memberships they are a part of and sayings they like. In my sig on another site I had enough room for the following in CP; on this site you only have one line limited to 100 characters counting spaces. just a thought....

"A cool wife who understands is a wonderful thing"

'67 Elky Global West suspension kit with coil over QA1's, 435hp Edy Crate,700R4, Currie +9 3:75, Disc brakes front and rear, Dakota Digital gauge package, 12 Circuit Painless wiring kit, Ididit tilt Colum, etc.

Well I have an Elky also so rak1 wouldnt be alone.I understand maybe latter.I told that to both my kids.As long as sometime comes sometime. Gary

how about e-bay adds...like a WIW, an add was sent to me today and I just gotta share it.

grumpy 12-31-2009 06:59 PM

If it pertains to Chevelles I don't see why it cannot be posted in the general section. Now this may change once we get the forums sorted out, but for now it should be fine.

As the official greeter lol,it would be nice to see members birthdays some time in the future.:)

I don't know if it's been brought up officially or not...

Would it be possible to have a regional area?
NW - SW - NE - SE ?

I think every member from the NW section on TC will tell you its been hugely beneficial to them.

We've grown into an extended family that helps each other work on our cars, help run down parts for each other, help each other with specialty tools, we get together with our family's for an annual Dyno & Burnoff Competition, BBQ's 3-4 times a year, at least 2/3's of us hit the track several times a year together, we provide lodging occasionally for members that come from out of the area to race.

In the last couple of years we've grown to a group that's easily 30 members deep or more, probably closer to 40.

We've said many times that if each region could develope the network of friendship that this has allowed the NW guys to develope, the Chevelle World would be a better place.

LS_5 01-01-2010 03:03 PM

Honestly, I hope we don't go that route. Sounds like there's barely 100 members total, so far, and we are just beginning to feel our way around on this site. Plus, to be honest, those regional areas always seemed like cliques to me and guys seemed to disappear in there and were rarely seen in the regular forums with the rest of us.

More Pictures in the Posts...

I just did a write up of the engine build I'm doing this winter. I like to illustrate my posts with photos, but I found I'm limited to only 4 photos per post.

If that could be increased, it would be nice.

Dan

grumpy 01-01-2010 06:44 PM

It should be 5 pics per post. Let me check.

1969 El Camino Dan 01-01-2010 07:16 PM

I had 5 in it, when I went to Preview, it told me I was outa line! 4 was the limit.
I cut a pic out and went ahead and posted it.
Not a huge deal, really. I can break the message up into more than one post easily enough.

Dan

grumpy 01-01-2010 07:16 PM

Seems it was set to 4. I bumped it to 6. If you need to do more pics I would suggest loading them up to your reply to the original post.

x2 Couldn't have said it any better

I can understand how the regional sections seem like a clique, I thought the same thing, but the NW guys welcomed me right in with open arms! It has been a blast meeting everyone and having an awesome chevelle community in our area. I encourage other areas to try the same! I've never met bigger and cooler gear heads in my life!

I like the regional forums, ours in the past has worked out very well and most of us post in other forums too. I understand the above comments, but I see alot of guys that seem to disappear in the many forums, like performance for example. People will lurke and read many threads but may only post in one or a few forums anyway. I do agree that the site should probably grow more first before adding them though.

Greg said it very well. I was drawn in to another forum because of the ability of local contacts at events. It might seem as a clique to others. But thats is just not true. I have met people through this type of local forum that I would not have had the chance to in a national environment.
Now since this Forum is just getting started I can understand some hesitation about dividing any of it up. The truth be known though it would be the same as dividing out N/A cars from Forced induction cars in the performance section. Then having fears that that the two would not share information and ideas.
So as the Forum grows please think real hard about allow regional sub section under local events. Because does someone in North Carolina really want to know who is bringing the paper plates to a Washington state BBQ.

Kevin Russell 01-02-2010 11:51 AM

I like the regional forum idea. It would be a clique if you couldn't get in unless you lived there but anyone can come read and post if they want to.
I post and read in the general forum often as that is were most of the good info is. The regional sections are for building relationships with fellow car freaks in your area.

Thank you for that. I have been a recipient of the finest hospitality in the NorthWest on several occaisions.

I totally agree with Greg on this. I do understand the fear of segregation and creating an in-forum clique. However, much of the banter within the Northwest section on the other Chevelle website would irritate folks if it were posted in a general area. As mentioned, it is often a local message board where people share tools, skills, parts, and the odd frosty after a fun day at the track. Members from all around the world participate in it, as it is often full of friendly jabs and razzing.

I, as well as the others that congregate there, do post often in many of the other forums as well. But we respect the boundaries of specific technical forums and post relevant and hopefully useful information there. We don't clutter them up with unrelated local banter.

Thank you for the new site. This is a nice compliment to the other Chevelle site I frequent. Please keep up the good work.

That would be nice! A few of the other sites I go to (mostly Camaro sites) brake it down even more so they can post local show/get togethers.

gotago 01-02-2010 07:07 PM

Regional sections would be awesome!! I think everyone's fears of cliques will evaporate once people from the same geographic locations get together and meet each other. When I need an answer on suspensions or performance related items, I will still go to that section.

Cliques? Who do you think we are, vette owners? :D
