Gary HELP!

You have to get up here. The helicopters are starting to fall, I need your help cleaning them up! :p

grandsport 05-09-2010 07:04 PM

Funny you should post this. I was up on the roof this evening cleaning out my gutters. Filled up a 5 gallon bucket with those things. Never saw them this bad.:(

Ms Grumpy 05-09-2010 07:20 PM

Only a 5 gallon bucket? I probably could fill a trash can with what is on my roof, just from today. When I logged into the forum I thought how funny you should post this. We were on the deck this afternoon noticing how many of those damn helicopters there were.

And the weeping willow in my back yard seems to be extremely full of leaves, which won't fall till about November. We still are finding the leaves from last year.

Good to know I'm not the only one irritated by the helicopters.

Hank70SS 05-09-2010 08:24 PM

I hate them on the driveway, they get smushed under the tires and feet and make a mess. They also end up in the garage. Our garage is attached, 90* into the garage at the end of the driveway, but we also have a 20' shed at the end of the driveway. the wind swirls around between the shed and garage and everything ends up in the garage.

Them helicopters dont bother me none since I dont have any but that thistle is a whole other story. Anyone want some thistle seeds ,just post your address and I will send them free .

grandsport 05-10-2010 09:02 AM

You can always thistle while you work.

flash 05-10-2010 01:59 PM

Gary, your thistle seeds are on the way ,just spread them anywhere . They are extremely drought tolerant ,and I believe they will even grow in concrete.

I have a few that come up in between the river rock around the pool area. They are tough sum of a guns.

Highway Star 05-10-2010 03:12 PM

My MIL was telling me yesterday that she used to go picking thistle with her friend, and they would eat them...with salt/pepper and vinegar.

grandsport 05-10-2010 04:07 PM

I think that would hurt.

Here is a portion of the 2010 model year helicopter production. That's a 35 gallon can, that was from the driveway only. The second picture is our largest helicopter manufacturing facility. That shed is 20 across, you can see some of the branches reach all the way to the far end of the shed. You can't tell in the picture but 1/4 to 1/3 of this years production run is still on the line waiting to be finished. Third pic is our 2nd largest producer, hard to get the whole thing in the pic but you can see how high it is above the second story of the house. We have too smaller manufacturing facilities as well.

So Gary, don't ever talk to me about helicopters again!

I have a small manufacturing plant in my front yard I'm going to replace with a Red Oak. with the price of fuel anymore I thought it made more sense.

Helicopters ? The black ones with no lettering on them ?

I better get out my tin foil hat :)

Ms Grumpy 05-19-2010 08:11 PM

I hadn't driven my car in a few days. And I was surprised that I still had those damn things stuck on the car after 15 miles on the e-way. It rained yesterday and I swear those things have superglue embedded in them somewhere.

NO, they're tan colored, but they do have whisper mode. Can't hear them little suckers coming unless there's a few hundred swooping in.

My wife makes me wear a helmet all the time, so I'm not worried. I think it's lined with tinfoil?

Hank70SS 05-22-2010 01:45 PM

Gary, just filled 3 5 gallon buckets with helicopters from the gutters. If they hadn't been soaking wet from all the rain yesterday it would have been 5 or 6 buckets.

I have to find some good gutter guards to keep the crap out of them. Getting too old to go up there every few weeks and clean out the latest crap that has fallen out of the trees.

grandsport 05-22-2010 01:56 PM

Like I told you before,my yard was nothing compared to yours. I don't mind getting up on the roof, but I panic for the first few steps coming down the ladder. Last year I was stuck up there for about 30 minutes until a neighbor came home to help me down.:p

Hank70SS 05-22-2010 04:56 PM

I have a tri-level, two roofs plus a screened in deck off our upstairs bedroom with a gutter on it. I have over a 150' of gutter and 20 different kinds of trees. Every week another tree decides it's going to drop some new crap in the gutters, I can't keep up with it. Actually I don't want to keep up with it, I have more fun things I could spend my time on.
