Michigander saying Hi

1 Attachment(s)
Hi, I just thought I'd post a quick introduction and a picture of my 69 SS.

My wife and I enjoy taking this old grocery getter to cruises, shows, etc. We have driven up to the St. Ignace car show several years and also to Woodward dream cruise a few times. This picture was taken last weekend in front of the replica Shell station at Gilmores car museum in Hickory Corners Michigan.

I bought it as a basket case in 1998, and did a complete frame off doing everything myself except for painting (although I did the primer) took me 2 1/2 years nights and weekends but was worth every minute of it.

Thanks for looking!

Steve

Welcome from North Georgia.

Welcome Steve,
Great story. I like the old filling station in the background. I'm over 4 years into my restoration so I know what it takes to do a frame off. Again Welcome.

Steve,

From one Michiganer to another "Welcome" Great pic. Myself I'm from Fenton that is over by Flint. Have you heard about the "Back to the Bricks in Flint car cruise in Flint? we have a lot of fun over there and it's only about a 1 hour drive from Lansing. I'm going to try to get a us in as a car club this year so we all can park together.

Again, Welcome.

Brian, were you at Gilmores last weekend? or is that a picture taken before that?

Ric, keep me in mind if you do get something put together. My wife and I are busy with open houses, wedding reception and a scheduled trip to Minnesota walleye fishing, but if it works out to be a weekend we aren't doing anything we'd drive over to Fenton.

That was a pic. of an LS-6 I had back in 04. I've been to Gilmores many times. A good friend of mine was there with a very nice chop top two tone (Sandtan over Burgandy) 70 Monte Carlo. Maybe you seen him?

Steve, Back to The Bricks is 8/17 > 8/21. I live near I-96 and US-23, you're welcome to swing by here then we can meet up with Ric in Fenton then up to Flint. Even if we don't go in as a club if we arrive together we can park together.

Sounds like a good idea, I have a couple friends over this way who also might want to come along in their cars if no one has any objections to it.

If all goes well, we would love to head up there with you guys. At least one of the days.

I don't have any objections and I'm sure no one else will either. That's one nice thing about owning a classic, you get to meet a lot of new people.

Hank70SS 05-29-2010 07:34 AM

Dave, Back to the Bricks isn't until the week after the Dream Cruise so hopefully your car will be good to go and we can all go together.

grumpy 05-29-2010 08:52 AM

They finally wised up and moved it ? Even better, will make a ton easier for us to make it.
