Interesting day

I mentioned before that all work related to the software I use to work on was moved to India. I haven't had any work to do, going on 3 months now, so what's the obvious, email telling me you're done.

Had calls and emails from a couple of salesman today about some proposals for state of CA and OH they're working on. They're trying to get justification for me to do the work instead of sending it to India which is the corporate mandate. I've enjoyed being 'semi-retired' the last few months but a few more months of employment would be nice. Just hope it works out in time to save my butt from the unemployment line. Then again, not working isn't all that bad. Of course I've been getting paid to not work so I guess that makes it a little easier to handle.

Hank, sounds like your sort of torn. Hope it works out for ya either way.

Hank70SS 06-09-2010 07:23 PM

Not quite at retirement age yet so I don't really want to get laid off. Really couldn't handle financially right now. One the other hand after 37 years I'm ready mentally, just not financially.

Good for you Hank! Hope everything works out for you. I hope to be able to work till I die. I keep telling my daughter I will have a heart attack on the auction block after hitting a big score. :)

Hank, if you are looking for some extra cash I need someone to put my car back together and I'll pay $5.00 a hour and you'll get a 15 min break every 4 hours. Let me know if you are interested so I can get the webcam set up in the garage so I can keep a eye on you and you are not taking advandage of my friendship.

You don't have to thank me, that is what friends are for.

Wow, what a friend, If only I could find a few friends like that.

That Ric is quite a guy isn't he. I would actually enjoy putting a car together more than what my job has turned into.

Is the $5 an hour tax free, under the table?

Hank, it's $5 tax free, but there is a $2 a hour handling fee for cash.

No way! $1 an hour handling fee and I get travel time and mileage, 45 cents a mile, from my house to yours.

grandsport 06-10-2010 07:55 AM

Did you ever consider outsourcing?

Outsourcing is why I don't have any work.

I think you need to talk to Gary about the yard work. I'll have to get back to you on your latest offer, I'll tell you right now though, it's not looking real good.

I know Tony, just wait until you watch the videos and see how many siesta breaks he takes. You won't be driving that car this summer or next. You'll change your tune then and guess what? My cost just went up! You get what you pay for you know.
