Does anyone fall for this ?

There is a 68 Chevelle conv. ( Or a piece of one ) running on ebay Item#190463333127 He claims to have 18 bids with the highest bid at $14,100. and funny thing , the bids all all confidential. There is hardly anything left of this car. He claims that he took it apart and had all of the parts in a trailer which got stolen, never to be seen again. Think maybe he has 18 friends? Same amount as the amount of bids.

Does seem a bit odd.

Even if it is a true L78 car that's a lot of money for a roller. Cars aren't going for very much these days.

My original 68 convertible had "all" the parts and was in far better shape than the one pictured. I have spent more than $30k so far so at a purchase price of $15k the new owner is "starting" at $45k and still has to buy a lot of parts. Good luck.

ha! that's insane! and his reserve isn't met yet.

If it's legit, the price is reasonable IMHO for a #s matching L78 convertible....

The story about the parts being stolen is not unheard of, but this basically being a "numbers matching" rolling bare shell does raise a flag.

Thats sort of what I meant. Theres hardly any numbers left to match.

I agree on the bidding. especially since the last time it was on there it only went 7K and that was with the numbers matching "ED" motor.

if the bidding is real, someone's going to get hosed.

It's been pointed out on another forum that the deck stamping has been altered... http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s.../notdecked.jpg

The code ED (325hp/manual trans) has been altered to read EG (375hp/manual trans)

You can make out the D very lightly under the G.

Definitely not worth $15k, considering a 325hp car is probably worth about half of a 375hp car when done, and that fraud attempt is permanent. :(

The matching VIN appears to be legit.
