How much more value does #'s matching really add ?

This is a beautiful car, no doubt. But how much more value does it actually add to have a #'s matching car.

I personally don't care for all originals.....more into upgrades & updated hot rods.

I'd guess around 20% on a real desirable model, such as a BB/4spd SS convertible like that one. The more rare it is, the more those numbers are worth...

On a common Malibu, they're not worth a dime...

I love the hunt for finding the correct date coded parts for my car. I am honestly not keeping track of what I have spent so far in the chase for a "numbers "car.Value to me can be quite different from anothers opinion of value.

It all depends on the car and the collector.

I have seen #'s matching go for as much as 50% more than a non, but I have also seen some customs that bring at least as much more than the originals.

10 years ago I would have said that #'s matching always get more money but that is just no longer true.

OK. Here is a question for you guys. What would you say is the most valuable #'s matching Chevelle ? I know that the value of something like that is most often determined by what someone would pay for it. But is there a certain year, package or color that is probably the most desirable ?

1965 Z16 convertible. (only one built)
