Loving my new job!

Yeah it is pretty cool, and for the most part I'm having a blast. If someone told me 6 months ago I would be the GSM at the Hyundai dealership,I would have said no way.Basically my day starts at 7:30 am going over the past days sales with the owner. Then it is a managers meeting from 8 until 9 and then a sales meetting until 9:30. I'm not the screaming type, but the guys respect me and do what they are supposed to.Then the real fun for me starts when the customers start coming in.:D I am the main "TO" person in the store, which means I go in for the close if the sales guy can't do it.No one is to leave the store unless they talk to me or another manager.Today, one got past me and I ran out to their car and got them to come back into the store.2 hours later, they were driving a new car.I really get a lot of compliments from the owner,co-workers and most importantly, from the customers on "my demeanor".I guess a laid back kind of guy that knows how to treat people can make it in the car biz.;)

Your the Man, or is it show me the money. Lol, sounds like you do a great job of treating poeple they way they want to be treated when it comes to buying a car. Keep up the good work. Just show when you treat people with respect and trust they will come around.

Gary it is your demeanor. You are a gentle soul when it comes to talking to people. You don't try to talk "over" people, you actually listen to what they have to say. In today's economy customer service is what it is all about. And it sounds like you have that covered.

I am so happy for you...just bummed that we won't see you at the Ohio Show.

What ,youre not coming ? Were really going to miss you . I wish you were my car salesman when we were looking .We couldnt get a straight answer out of any of the ones we tried to deal with .We were finally able to find what we wanted from a private seller for several thousand dollars less than the dealerships wanted for a much nicer vehicle with lots less miles. And we didnt have to pay their outrages DOC fees and state taxes which saved an additional $1000 .

Doc fees are a way of life buying from a dealer. I have never had anyone question them.:oNancy, you wanted to know how my job was going,so there.Maybe a little bit of a brag, but I now work for the primo dealer group in my area.I was just being myself, but the owner was watching me the whole time.He loves the way I do business, and it should only get better for me.I did in 4 months what guys strive for after years in the business and I really wasn't looking to be in charge. Could I be a trend setter in my area?Waving

That is why you have been so successful in this job. You are not trying to be anyone else but Gary and you are not "brown nosing". I am sure that he was not the only eyes and ears in this decision. He asked the other employees how they liked you and I think that the feedback from your peers is actually more important than that of your boss, even though he has the final decision. So I am guessing that you are going to stick around in this job for a while. :D

Thanks,John. But over the years I have learned to take things one day at a time.
