Custom Hard Headliner
Hi All..
I have it stuck in my head that I want a custom newer style hard headliner in my 72. I have a nice headliner out of a newer caddy that is not the right shape but has cool pilot lights and a slim headliner console with clock. I also have a hard headliner out of a mini van. Needless to say I have enough hardboard to work something with a lot of trial and error but came up with a new idea that I want opinions on as to viability. The headliner in the car right now is a stock bow headliner that is in ok shape but needs to be stretched to get rid of wrinkles in a few areas. Here is my idea - let me know what you think. I am going to gut my interior this winter to re-do it and insulate. Before I take down the current headliner, what if I stretch it so that it looks as it should, then brush on fiberglass resin? I am pretty sure it will harden. Do you guys think I will be able to make a shell that I can then take out of the car, reinforce with fiberglass, then cover and do as I wish with it? I have been looking for a pre-molded unit but haven't found any yet. Opinions? Ed |
.... your hella funnie!!! LOL

What part? Will the resin not work?

I would expect it to cause some added cabin noise as it wouldn't deaden any sound, and would echo back at you.

Cabin noise is ok, I can pad the headliner once made.
Really just wondering if the resin is a viable way to make at brittle but usable pattern for a fiberglass headliner. |
