Springs to raise rear on 72 malibu

I have a 72 Malibu with oversized tires on rear. It has air shocks but I don't like relying on them for the 2" raise I need. To much load in the wrong places and I think springs would be safer and better ride. The only springs I can find on line is original and lowered. Are there any springs that would work, station wagon etc? Has anyone used the fixed or adjustable spacers that are installed under the springs?

I have a set of the aluminum 1" spacers in mine. They work fine. I don't know how good the 2" ones would be. I would think they would work.
For a heavier spring, give the guys at Detroit Eaton Spring a call. They can make a set for you and they are pretty good to deal with. Plus, there stuff is American made.

baffle...Tony is a pretty smart guy. Good luck, let us know how things work out. I have a 72 and would definitely be interested in what you find.

Same here, I got mine from Summit Racing http://www.summitracing.com/parts/GLS-1622/. They fit under the bottom of the spring, easy to install too. Looks like Summit only carries up to 1.5" though.

I need some of those for the vert and the Elky too.

Do these spacers stiffen the ride any ? My Camino rides good just too low in the rear to suit me.

I didn't notice and difference in the ride quality when I installed them. A little bit of wheel hop though. Very minor.

Not sure if those are the same spacers that I used before the restore. I know that we had problems with the ones we had coming loose. But I do remember having the wheel hop like Tony mentioned.

Looks like the OP never came back.

THanks for the info. I am still looking and now am thinking about station wagon springs. I just bought this car and am going through the from end, control arms etc.and also the rear tires would rub on a dip. Also the drovers side sits slightly lower than the pass side. I ordered heavy duty springs from NPD and they are 12.5" tall, unloaded. The old ones are 14.5" tall so now my dilemma is are the old ones wore out. I need to find specs on the springs and figure out what I have. If anybody has any old springs that they know are stock and can measure them I would appreciate it.
