Music question..Who is you favorite guitarist ?

So we all have different music tastes. I was just curious what you think about the ratings by Rolling Stone Magazine.

The top 5 guitarists of all time as rated by Rolling Stone Magazine:

1. Jimi Hendrix

2. Eric Clapton

3. Jimmy Page

4. Keith Richards

5. Jeff Beck

For me, I was surprised that:
BB king rates at #6
Chuck Berry at #7

I love BB, and would have loved to see him in the top 5. Not a fan of Eric Clapton. What do you think ?

I like Clapton ,Hendrix and B.B.King and Berry equally ,but its hard to beat the Star Spangled Banner by Hendrix.

depends on what the mood is ... good strumming is acyually emotion centered and simply cannot be pigeon-holed as to what is the best.

Hendrix can get the hairs to stand up on the back of the neck

but so can ...

Tom Petty and the garage band sound
Peter Framptons "waa-waa" sound
How about the Freebird solo
James Taylor hits home with his picking
George Harrison's "all work" and Winwood, Clapton, and on and on ....

............ no one deserves the title as "all time greatest"

There are a LOT more technical players than those listed. I guess I can't appreciate the older guys. YES, they were outstanding players for sure, BUT there are better players out there.

Alex Lifeson (Rush)
Steve Vai
Yngwie Malmsteen
Zac Brown (Zac Brown band. If you ever saw him play live, you would be amazed at how good he is.)
Lindsay Buckingham (I watched him play a solo that sounded like two different guitars playing at the same time. I don't know how he did it to this day)

I think any of these guitarists could play notes the top five "greatest" couldn't play. Please don't get me wrong, they ARE great, but judging solely on the ability to play the "little" notes, these guys are better in my opinion.

1. Jimmy Page from Led Zepplin
2. Eddie Van Halen

These are two of my favorites.

I can go with that top 5 list, not necessarily in that order. I would have to add Stevie Ray if it was my list.

I love the blues guitarists. We have a local guy who we have used at AKfests in the past, I can never get enough of this guy. His name is Laith and he is also a nice guy.
